Alaskan king crab…or thick, soft, and very fresh scallops…wrapped in Japanese smoked bacon, like my wife made for dinner tonight. I must give a huge nod to lobster, though. That can be magnificent.

Great show Gary, my favorite shell fish would be oysters on the half shell with mignonette and a nice glass of falanghina yum!.

Great show, thanks for reviewing the Madiran wine that you carry. I have been waiting for the review of this one and I hope to see more Tannat wines including those from Uruguay in future episodes. Kudos to the direction that your next 100 shows are taking.

Tough to pick among shellfish as I like most all of them, but I am going to have to go with the Dungeness crab (paired with a New Zealand SB) with a big shout out to crawfish.

Shrimp, Scallops, Lobster, Mussels, damn its all pretty good. In fact I don’t think there is a shellfish I don’t like.

Awesome show, Gary. I’m so amped you guys are adding to your Portugese offerings. I live in NYC (Boston transplant), and I begrudge the fact that even the “big” wine stores in NY/NJ seriously skimp on their Portugese offerings. Great QPR with Portugal, and I know you guys will do a good job posting tasting notes and recommendations, as you need to separate the bad from the great with Portugal (much like Chile). I try not to visit my brother-in-law often (although he lives 10 minutes from Wine Library), though I may need to take a deep breath and see him more often…that’s how much I love Portugese wines. And this is coming from an Irish kid from Boston. Talk to some Portugese guys from Newark – those guys can find the hidden gems that don’t even come close to breaking the bank!

Large sea scallops…..pan seared with a little cajun kick…and maybe a bit of Gewürztraminer to follow. Great show!

QOTD: My favorite shellfish = Kellen Clemens, Chad Pennington, and Marshall
    Marques Tuiasosopo.

When I want something other than shrimp, I like Brett Favre (though yes, he has no ring this year, either).

It’s hide-and-seek time. Time to try to find the Carm and the Madiran. They sound like my kind of wines. Thanks for the tips. QOTD- It’s a no brainer…..SHRIMP! Steamed…….boiled……fried…….doesn’t make squat, it’s all good. [For N.E. Pat. fans, a good plate of shrimp, (with a glass of Voignier), will help you forget].

Love the value driven shows! I have just started exploring Southern France and Portugal (pretty pathetic since I am a Portugee) but I agree- great QPR wines and a fabulous way to “step outside the box”.

QOTD: Toss up b/w scallops and shrimp- depends on the preparation and my mood.

That song was awesome! Great Episode, I’ve been trying to hit the Spanish/Portuguese/Southern France wines lately and have been really happy.

GV, I saw a wine from Uruguay the other day, I considered picking it up. Thoughts?

    Thanks for the shout-out!

QOTD: Lobster and fried big belly clams!

Sara – AWESOME! Nice effort. I wish I had a little musical talent. Anyway, nice show and very interesting wines.

QOTD: Clams at a clambake in the fall.

Great song. Don’t think I could get past the pig crap nose on the Domain Bila. That is one smell that makes me nauseated. Great song from Sarah. Hope she writes a few more stanzas. How about a metal version?

Favorite shellfish; I live near the Chesapeake Bay so it has to be blue crabs though really good oysters will also do it for me.

Once again a very informative show to help expand your viewers palates. My wife and I have tasted a few wines from the regions presented and have enjoyed them all. You’re right! Portugese wines are a great value and bring serious “thunder” as you like to say.
QOTD: Any shellfish is good, but if I have to choose, clams are my favorite-raw, with a good sauvignon blanc, chablis or white burgundy.

    Raw oysters!
