QOTD: Never had an Oregon PN. Great show!

Joe Cortez reference and the Macho Man imitation – way well done due, i want more Randy Savage time man on WLTV- makes for a great episode.

QotD: Domaine Serene most recently but i bought Prive, Beaux Freres and Patty Green from the 06 vintage.

Good Show, and have enjoyed some PNs in the past, but “Sideways” has driven the price for quality wines above my daily budget. Loved the tasting notes on EIEIO, so will be looking for that one in the local stores.

Loved Mott having the last word(s)!

QOTD: I have not had PN from Oregon. But it is now on my list of must buys.

QOTD: I happen to be drinking a Vital 2005(that I purchased at the big WL) while watching this episode. I get a smoky, cherry sniffy-sniff….not bad for $20 bones.

QOTD: Last Oregon pinot I tried was from Witness Tree – 2005 Benchmark which was excellent. There is a rich silky quality with their pinots that are just wonderful.

QOTD: no big “O” pinots, only rolled into Niagara PNs. Checking out burgs and other pinots now.

I was rollin’ after you put your fingers in Lanchini’s punt, great metaphor about being around the block!
Last Pinot was a 2005 Hamacher, which was surprisingly more like a burgundian Pinot then an Oregon.

Rex Hill 2003 or 2004 (I forget). I was wonderful. My sis gave it for Christmas, we loved it so much that we had our fav liquor store owner buy one for us & my bro-in-law bought it out from under us (surprise!) for Thanksgiving. It was funny (but perhaps you had to be there).

Last Oregon Pinot Noir: Domaine Serene 2003. Love it.

Your question of the day brought me out from lurkerland.

I grew up in Oregon (would you like a knife, or-a-gun?) and have mad love for Oregon pinots. My favs are Domaine Serene (pricey), King Estate, Erath and Stoller vineyards.

Shout out from the Coast Range!
I know you’re just pushing our buttons with the whole “Orygone” thing but it’s pronounced “Lakeeni”. We tasted through their wines about five years ago. Nice folks. We have a magnum of theirs in the closet and I actually CAN fit my head in the punt! I wear it around the house until my wife makes me take it off.

QOTD: Quite often but really, heroin would be cheaper. Last one was Carlo & Julian Estate 2005. It’s a house favorite but hard to find outside the ‘hood. Big fans of Boedecker Cellars and DePonte too.

QOTD. I love good Oregon Pinot Noir, but I find that there is a steep increase in quality that starts around $40, and that’s more than I can spend on a regular basis. The ones in the $20 neighborhood can be ok, but not all that impressive. Probably the last one I had was A to Z, which is in the not-bad-but-not-impressive category.

I very much enjoy Oregon Pinot. I think the last one I had was Lily, which you tasted recently and enjoyed. In 2004 during a visit to Willamette I tasted the EIEIO at a wine store. The guy working there gave us a tasting of a wine he said he made and it was very good. I took a bottle home and enjoyed it. The guy said his name was McDonald, hence the name EIEIO. It was fun to see it on WLTV and brought back great memories of my trip to Oregon. I need to go back.

Loved Sideways, but I loved the grape before the movie. I do love me some Pinot Noir…

If you look hard enough you can find some great Oregon Pinot Noirs around the $20.00 mark. Freja Cellars Estate comes to mind.

I love Oregon wines, I just wish there were a little more value to be had. Darn near impossible to find a noteworthy Pinot under $20. I definitely want to seek out some of the whites coming from Oregon. Chards, Pinot gris, Gewurztraminer. Great show Gary!

Good show. I really enjoy your episodes on Pinot Noir.

QOTD: The last Oregon Pinot Noir I had was the 2006 A to Z. It was good, but I’ve tasted better from New Zealand at the same price range.

GV, You don’t need to show us the color by tilting the glass when you wear the white shirt. It’s much easier to see the great color in those Pinots when you just turn in around in the glass in front of you.

One of my first forays into serious wines was a trip through the Willamette Valley in ‘96. We were tasting the 1994s – a great vintage for Oregon Pinots. I remember thinking “Now I understand why people get so crazy about wine.” Over the years my favorites have been Erath and Sokol Blosser.

GV: Woo-hoo! A white shirt to help us see the color as you swirl it! Thank you.

QOTD: I do drink the O. A few weeks ago I had a 2002 Domaine Serene. It was a gift from a friend that now lives in Portland. Very nice bottle.
