Gary, did you tape all the episodes this week on the same day? You seem a bit punchy in this episode – just curious if it’s two hours of taping getting to you!

QOTD: Pretty impossible to get Oregon Pinots in Israel, though I have a bottle from the north of Israel waiting to get cracked!

Gary! For me? Thanks so much for doing our home stuff! Hey, there are some beautiful things out there, and some OK and some bad. Look back at some good stuff you have tasted from the Big O. Here is a list of some you have not, but is super:

Adelsheim ‘05 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, ‘04 Bethel Heights Casteel, ‘04 Sokel Blosser Dundee, anything Elk Cove, Hamacher, J Christopher, Et Fille, Ken Wright, Francis Tannahill, and Shea to name a few that I love.

If you only try one and think that represents Oregon Pinot, then you are missing out on something very special! Like Burgundy Pinot, you must do some homework to discover that transcendental bottle that will make you a believer.

Happy V-Day, everyone! I had an Oregon PN this past weekend, the Archery Summit Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2006. It was great. I have to say PN is not my fave varietal, though. It’s often kind of sour and thin. But actually my fave PN at that tasting was a German PN, Spatburgunder Rheingau Assmanns Hauser Hollenburg August Kesseler 2001. Wow, that’s a lot to type.. the producer said it was ‘not for the beginner’ but I’m a beginner and I liked it… thought it pretty accessible!

QOTD: The last Oregon Pinot Noir that I had had was an Argyle. It was not great; it was just OK.

Although I live in DC right now I am an Oregonian and so have had many Oregon Pinots. With the price they are now I can’t say I drink them very often these days but generally save them for special occasions or if I am out West visiting. The last bottle I had was an ‘05 Panther Creek Willamette Valley that was very solid. I also enjoy Torii Mor, Argyle, and Archery Summit, though Panther Creek tends to be the favorite overall of what I have had.

Gary…it’s about time…I’ve been waiting for an Oregon Pinot Show since you did the Patty Green show….$h!t. Ok, ok…on with the

QOTD: The last Oregon Pinot I had was the 2006 Bergström. However in the past 45 days I’ve tasted, Beaux Freres, Patricia Green, Shea, Lenne, Adelsheim, Sineann, Chehalem, Rex Hill, Willakenzie Estate, Hamacher, Andrew Rich, Anne Amie, Archery Summit, Argyle, Domaine Drouhin, Tori Moor, and Dobbes Family Vineyard. Oregon is a place that breeds passion in wine for me.

Happy Valentines Day, GV -though I don’t think I want you to be mine ;) Anyway, I hope you’re enjoying your time away!

QOTD: I wish that Sideways had never happened. I can’t afford respectable Oregon Pinot because the demand is so high. They’re wonderful food wines, but I just can’t justify buying a pinot for $25 when I can get serious value in spanish and portugese reds for $8-10. The hype is simply ridiculous…

QOTD: I have not, but I am going to seek some out this coming week!

I drink some Oregon pinot (last I had was a ‘99 Argyle Rsv), but I like many of the California ones better, even though I live near the Willamette Valley. A Testarossa Rosella’s, Pisoni, or Gary’s really does it for me!

I have not yet had the pleasure of the pinot noir that I can recall. It is on my list of wines to try. There are just too gosh darn many to try at one time. Thanks to you, I will always be able to expand my experience.

QOTD: the last pinot I had was the Amisfield (New Zealand). Tonight we’re having the Breggo Anderson Valley pinot and then the Numanthia Termes – both from Wine Library.
We enjoyed a lot of pinots when we were in Oregon (McMinnville) – Torii Mor, Panther Creek, Domaine Serene, Domaine Drouhin, Adslsheim, Penner Ash, Cardwell Hill.
What a nice Valentine image: Bambi’s mother getting hit by a car. I think I know exactly what that smells like. Happy Valentine’s Day.

WLTV Take Two: Imagine if you’re driving and hit a deer and then you take out your knife and cut a big whole in it and stuff one dozen long stem roses in and sprinkle chocolate dust over it…..that’s how I’m wishing all Vayniacs a happy V-Day!

QOTD: Not too many Orygone Pinot Noirs. I can’t remember their names and it was at least six years ago or so (long before Sideways) and I felt they weren’t as good as Carneros/Russian River Valley Pinot Noir for the price. After today’s show I’ll give the big O another try.

QOTD: The last Oregon Pinot Noir that I had was called ‘Big Fire’. I rather enjoyed it and it was the first time I have been impressed by a Pinot Noir. We don’t get many Oregon Pinots in Ontario.

I’ve never had an Oregon Pinot, I’ll seek one out though.

Gary I’ve always loved the EIEIO brand, gotta try the “Swine Wine” from them with the little piggy on the front!

QOTD – LOVE LOVE LOVE Oregon Pinots, they are what got me into wine! Last one I had was a Lange Winery, and while I think they really bring the thunder for Gris, i LOVED IT (tho I was also at thier kick ass tasting room, so that could have effected it a bit ;) )

While I generally like Pinot Noir and have way before *the movie* I’ve always leaned towards Central Cali. Coast for them. But, then again, some of my favorite wines are Burgundy Pinots for their earthiness and my pal tells me that Cali. pinots carry that trait moreso than some of the Oregons.

And, like another poster metioned, it seems as if they’re being put out too young just to quell the demand and sadly, I think the quality shows. Most 06’s are coming tasting like Pinot Light and what kills me about that is that they’re still 20 bones and up.

QOTD: 06′ Jigsaw a/k/a another Pinot light.
