QOTD: I am always trying new wines.
QOTD 2: Last NYS wine I’ve had was a Dr. Frank Dry Riesling, don’t remember which vintage off the top of my head.

    FingerLaker –
I bought that jersey at the last home game he played. Gotta represent Buffalo, even though I live in Albany now.
    GO SABRES!

I always give my PAL something new to taste, Gary.

I am going out to get a bottle of Dr. Frank’s Riesling just as soon as the boyfriend gets home from the Army tonight (on location in Fort Carson this weekend)

QOTD: I had some back in the Nineties when I lived up there. Don’t remember which though, I didn’t used to keep track of what I drank like I do now.

QOTD 1: The universe IS expanding.

I drink a LOT of wines from the Finger Lakes region, mainly because my wine-o parents go up there twice a year and come back with more cases than they know what to do with. And as I am a big fan of Gewurzes, I totally agree with your assessment of Weimer’s. As odd as it sounds, though, I don’t know if I’ve ever tried his Dry Riesling, since that seems to be the main wine coming out of that region.

QOTD: I’m pretty sure the last NY state wine I had was the 2006 Fulkerson Traminette (fantastic w/ Chinese food). I’ve also very recently had the 2005 Shalestone Harmony, a really nice 50/50 blend of Merlot and Cab Franc. My parents and I both agree that Shalestone makes the best reds of any Finger Lakes winery.

QOTD: Never had a wine from NY, they are harder to find in the Midwest. Also, I have been trying tons of new wines including a new favorite: Pinotage.

I’m always trying something new or looking for that exceptional bottle of wine. As far as NY wines, not impressed…it may be because the wine I had wasn’t any good or just ok to good…I give it a pass for now. Good episode…not only do we get wine-tasting with scores but fashion week! or fashion statement……….

QOTD: Never had one in my entire natural life! But, I’d like to someday.

I had some Riesling from Finger Lakes and can’t remember the producer but I didn’t like it. My palate is already pretty well developed from tasting so many wines and other things over the years. I don’t have the palate of GV because so many of these things from the 80’s he describes are things maybe my kids would have eaten and I wouldn’t eat much of anything they were eating. When GV described a dear, I have to wonder if he has ever dealt with fresh killed dear. The odor is a combination of iron and crap. Not really what I want in a wine.

QOTD: 2002 Paumanok Asseblage LI, Bordeaux style blend. It was kick-ass great; served it blind and NOBODY pegged it as being from LI.

Q(s)OTD: Yes, recently I’ve tried my first Albarino, Torrontes, and Bonarda. It’s all for you GV. Have not, however, ever had a NY wine.

A nice couple of whites there, I’d happily drink either.

QOTD – The Wölffer 1998 Cabernet Franc, drank last October. Rated it 89 but I think it was past it’s peak, could have been into the 90s a couple of years ago. That was the one and only, difficult to source NY wines over here (I picked up the Wölffer on a trip to D.C.)

QOTD: Of course! I’m always trying new wines, tonight we’re going with a Langhe

QOTD2: On Wednesday I had two NYstate wines. I had the 2006 Herman Weimer Riesling, and felt pretty much the same way that you did about it, I went around 88pts if we’re keeping track. I also had a 2003 Palmer Cab Franc Reserve which I wasn’t super impressed with.
