QOTD: When I win the WSOP.

RE: Gary’s shirt. [sniff] Must be a new shirt, never washed, a little itchy, a little starch, kinda got that starch and fresh haircut on the nose…like getting your haircut at the drycleaners and pelting it with some Old Spice….buttons open to kind of give it that fresh air smell…

Keep that shirt unbuttoned to woo the female watchers, or for easy scratchin’?

Great great show Gary! I had several Saint Aubin, the best was the 2004 Domaine Michel Picard Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Le Charmois… and still one in my cellar.

QOTD: Availability, if I see one I will definitely try to pick it up.

Gary has heard of more than two buttons, but choses to ignore them. Also, never been impressed with a white wine. Part of that is an unwillingness to go into (much) higher price points in general but also a reluctance to buy a whole bottle of something that my pal has told me i don’t like. I try and drink white when i go out and can get just a glass, but have yet to find something I really like.

QOTD. I have had St. Aubin’s, but not many and not often. I do like that smokey thing that some of them have. Actually, I’ve had a puzzling experience with some smokey white wines. I try them at tastings, and get all the smoke. I buy them, take them home, pop them, and no smoke. This has happened to me maybe a half dozen times. I don’t generally decant white wines. Is that the problem, do you think?

QOTD: Not sure. Have had some Montracet and loved it so I will be on my way to St. Aubins.

    Great show!

QOTD: I actually found one on the BC LCB list! Of course I could also check specialty stores, but I can at least get one through official channels. So, nothing is holding me back now.

Hey I am one of those wine nerds that was hoping you would not talk about St. Aubin. I actually bought a case of the 2005 Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin La Princee.

BTW I disagree with 2004 not being great for white Burgundy. I think they are much more lean and classic not as fruit driven as the 2005. But that is my opinion.

Great show, but stop letting too many people know about the hidden gems in Burgundy.

We have the 02′ Leflaive St. Aubin on our list and I sold about two cases of it last summer. It can be an amazing wine for a killer value when you find the right bottles. Great show….great topics…

QOTD….I’m trying to imagine me shelling out 47 bones on a white wine and somehow I just can’t.

My QOTD: Why do people care so much about getting in the top 10 of the quotes for the day?

I’m ordering a few, because I’m devoting my next month of purchasing to only chardonnays from around the world – trying to expand my palate through a single grape type (at least for the next 30 days)! I’ll be in the Outer Banks in a month and I’ll be getting some delicious off-season fresh fish:

White burgundy + dungeness crab = crustacexplosion in my mouth.

QOTD: I’m not waiting. I have a bottle of the Girardin in my cart.

Yo Yo Yo….thanks for the heads up on the St Aubin. My wife will love me dropping $50 on a white. Only 4,998 until I reach my Facebook limit!!!
