QOTD#1: Sorry, I can’t be at WL on 3/29–but I will see you the next week in Seattle!
    QOTD#2: I haven’t had a lot of Pinot G, so no favorites.

I like the head-to-head format, especially seeing both wines in a glass side-by-side. A direct comparison often tells you much more than tasting them one after another.

QOTD: Won’t be able to make it up this time GV. QOTD #2: Don’t drink a lot of PG but have found Zenato to be a consistently good producer.

You mentioned the sugar cane aromas..they harvested the crops around here in mid December and that smell hangs in the air for about a week.

QOTD 1: My company has a client going live with Great Plains on April 1st. As such I regret to inform you that I do not plan on attending the Thunder Party on March 29th.

QOTD 2: I have only tried 3 PG’s but of those 3 I would say I liked the 2006 Stellina di Notte the best.

Great show and interesting colors to the wine.

QOTD 1: sorry, not giving up skiing utah. will be a blast

QOTD 2: Barmes-Beucher Silicis Pinot Gris – the intensity and depth of the floral aromas were fantastic and were backed backed solid granite stone.

Great show! And we had Lionel Kiddie City here in Ohio as well.

QOTD1: Darn it, but I’ll be flying to Geneva, Switzerland that day so, no, I cannot be there. Darn it!!!!

QOTD2: I’m not a big Pinto Gris/Grigio fan to date. I had a 2006 Masa Canali Pinot Grigio that was pretty decent, though.

    Hi Gary,
Sitting sick at home catching up on episodes. Can’t think of a better past time to get the mind off the misery than this!
1st of all, love the head to head varietal competitions.
2d, what a coincidence – just had some ‘06 Chehalem Pinot Gris last night.
Sorry can’t make it to the Thunderparty. We are having a murder mystery wine dinner and I get to play a role.
As for Pinot – I’ve had a lot of them but can’t really narrow it to 1. I haven’t had any expensive ones, but the best was from Alsace but I can’t remember the name.

Everyone talks about how Oregon is the place for Pinot Gris. Personally, I find most of them decent but all pretty similar and one-dimensional. I think Oregon shines more with its Burgundian style Chards (Try Cameron or David Hill). They definitely have more complexity without getting all stupid California on your ass. The price point is spot on too for domestic Chards. Gary, you almost said Oregon right but then you messed it up again. Say it with me now . . O-REE-GUN.

  23. February 28, 2008

    Donna Marie

QOTD I: Will try to be there.
