QOTD: I’ll definitely be there, possibly with a few friends too.

GV – Great shows, lovin’ the head-to-heads. 3/29 is my b-day, and we plan on coming over to WL to begin the party.

Great show….I will unfortunately not be able to make it to the 29th. However, I’m very excited about the 5th. Now for the fun….

QOTD: the Anne Amie Pinot Gris has been my favorite Pinot Gris so far. For two years in a row I’ve loved their Pinot Gris and thier Pinot Blanc. I’m not a fan of their “lower tier” or second lable though.

First PG I ever had was a Zind-Humbrecht … setting myself up for disappointment, I guess. Still good five years later, too.

QOTD1: Probably not…if I had the money where I could go wherever I want, I would, but no.

QOTD2: I can’t remember the Oklahoma winery that made it, but I’ve found one that was the awesome.

GV, Wouldn’t miss it for the world. Is it an open house theme (come and go as you please) or should we plan on making the day of it? BTW, nice job on getting all of this weeks episodes in with the mass taping last Friday. That’s what I call dedication.

Oh dude. If I didn’t have a baby at home, and I could just drop and leave, I would most certainly 1000% be in for some Thunder party action. And I’d even get a spot if I did. Cause I’m far away.

QOTD: Honestly, a Mondavi cheap-o that had nice fruit, but flabby acidity and mouthfeel. I just bought another cheap-o yesterday that I’m eager to give a go. I’m trying to dig new things, honest.

Always been a big fan of Chehalem yet never tried their P/G

QOTD1: Ashamed to say I can’t make it.

QOTD2: Silvio Jermann ofcourse! Not to mention Schiopetto. What a misunderstood grape. But then theres Zind Humbrecht. This is strangely tougher than I thought.

QOTD 1: No, as much as I’d like to I can’t convince my wife to take a 3,000 mile journey unless the end destination is tropical.

QOTD 2: Believe it or not, I have had several pinot gris’ but the best I have had was from an amateur winemaker friend who lives in the heart of Oregon wine country. He bottled what he made under the label of “Fermenting Friends” and his 2005 was singularly outstanding.

QoTD1: Afraid I won’t be able to make it in person … Maybe someone at WL could put together some footage for a future WL ep … pour some liquor for all of us who can’t be there ;~P

QoTD2: I’ve not had many pinot grises (Is that the plural?), but I really enjoy the A-Z.

I’ve tried quite a few of mostly the Winebow pinot grigios and I must say, I don’t get it. None are bad wines, but too light in every aspect. This is an area where I say my tastes are new world and I do like many of the Ore’-uh-gun and Alsace PG’s. From OR, try Elk Cove. Yep, it’s a little sweet tasting (rs around 0.5 (from the winery)), but very delicious.

Not sure if I will be out there then…Zind-Humbrecht and Sineann are my favorites.

  23. February 26, 2008

    hugh

will be there 3/29…..about a 100 mile trip each way 4 me but worth it, so i’m game!!

    i like pg from alsace!!

QOTD: Not in anymore dude, gotta jet over to Oregon to do some sniffy sniffy whirly whirly. Boys last trip before the kids start arriving!!
QOTD2: Haven’t had so many pinot gris/grigio, but I did have a stellar Rolly Gassman pinot gris which rocked my world recently.

  25. February 26, 2008

    Kristen

Glad the wines were good today!

QOTD1: Still in talks bout coming out (if I do, I’ll be coming from WI)
QOTD2: PG is not a favorite grape, but I did find one that I liked just recently. It’s the (2007?) Inacayal from Argentina. It had some really nice notes of papaya and other tropical fruits. Yum.
