Q1: Not going to make from Arizona.

Q2: I’ve only tried 2 PG’s, both from Italy, received both as gifts, thought they were like watered down Chards, not at all impressed. I’d be willing to try the ones you reviewed though.

QOTD 1 – 29/3 is a long way to fly from Cyprus, so unfortunately, no :-(

QOTD 2 – Never had a Pinot Gris – gotta try one though seeing as I am trying white whites more now

    Great Show!!!

Hope your week of traveling is going well.

QOTD 1: If one week earlier, I would have made the trip up from Houston during my spring break, but unfortunately, I can’t afford to take time off that weekend for travel.

QOTD 2: I dont usually drink Pinot Gris/Grigio. The only one I’ve had is the Santa Margharita Pinot Grigio, which was far from anything close to being good. Just not my style. I prefer a sancerre or viogner if I’m going to drink a white wine.

    Hi Gary,
I can’t make it on 3/29, but will try to see you in April at Taste of Washington.

Pinot Gris is not for me…I enjoyed the show, anyway!

I thought we scolded you enough on the last Oregon wine but guess you are a slow learner. Have to admit you got it right 50% today.
#1- Sorry won’t make it for 3/29. Too far from San Diego
#2- Haven’t had many Pinot Gris but the one I like the best is J Wine from the Russian River.

I will be there, coming from DC.

I am a big fan of Alto-Adige PGs, especially some of the offerings from Alois Lageder.

QOTD1: Sorry, plan to be enroute to AZ to visit my snowbird bro (not BruciePurpleJuice).

QOTD2: Quite a few friends having a love affair with PG, so it’s another white wine where I’m looking for one that rocks my boat. Many recommends, but still looking.

BTW, don’t know where the “gray pine cone” comes from, but a local winery that specializes in pinot Gris claims it’s Gray Monk, from the Austrian: http://www.graymonk.com/winery01.html

I’m enjoying this battle week….great idea!

QOTD1: Bad timing….I WISH I could be there on the 29th but I’ll be in Spain! If you ever do another one, I will definitely make the trip!

QOTD2: Felluga Pinot Grigio….discovered it at a tasting of 40+ pinot grigios about 7 years ago….it was the best one we tasted!

Great episode – I was learnings things like the difference (traditionally) between a Gris and a Grigio; what is a classic taste of a Gris…etc.

QOTD #1: Wish we were joining in the fun but it is not to be.

QOTD #2: From your show we starting buying ‘A to Z Pinot Gris’ and it is now our new favorite.

You say that Pinot Gris and Pinot Grigio are the same, but Pinot Gris is normally considered heavier.

This is like saying that Germany is the same country as Deutschland, but Germany is normally considered larger.

English and the language of the wine world are the same, but English is normally considered more meaningful. And for good reason, apparently!

I’m not willing to develop a favorite PG until there’s a consensus on whether it’s one thing or two.

Can’t do the March 29th gig, I wish, but a job and 3000 miles.

    QoTd
I did try a Chateau St. Michelle Pinot Gris and it was very nice, but none that really rocked. It will require further study.

I will definitely be at the library on 3/29 GV. Should be good times.

Favorite pinot grigio that I had recently was the Borgo Tesis that I actually picked up from WL.
