You got me in the mood so I’m going to try that Chapoutier Shiraz from Pyrenees Australian…Hopefully he brings some of that N Rhone old world funk to show those Aussies how to do it!

Do you realise how uncomfortable I felt after you poured that whole bottle into the glass. So glad you funnelled the rest back! I was glad you said Horse……Radish for the smell, my mind started wandering!!

..and then you said Pig Manure!

    Great show.

QOTD – Visiting friends, so taking the d’Arenberg The Hermit Crab 2005, a 1998 Ribera del Duero Reserva (Tamaral) and maybe my Insignum 2001 Erdener Treppchen Riesling Auslese.

Another great show – I just tracked down the Pinot from yesterday and looking forward to it arriving.

I will be enjoying a couple of wines that just arrived from the Wine Library along with my first wristband.

I’m feeling lucky, and proud, to be in the club as an owner of all 3 wristbands! Unfortunately, that alone is not reason enough for celebration (sorry Gary) so I’m not planning to open any special bottles this weekend. I will take a peak in the basement and grab whatever looks like it will be “fun.”

I’ve decided to stop lurking about.

QOTD: I picked up two bottles to try over the weekend the 2005 Chat-en-Oeuf from the Côtes Du Ventoux, and the 2006 Estampa Malbec/Petite Sirah from The Colchagua Valley, Chili

Big “Thank You!” from germany for changing (my) wineworld!

Great show today. Craggy Range Le Sol is one of my all-time favorite wines EVER. Can’t thank you enough for putting it on the Thunder Show today and, I agree, it’s a tad expensive (most folks sell it for $65 or more — I’ve seen it for $130 on a restaurant list!). However, while on the palate there are definitely wines that deliver just as much for half the price, I’ve never had a wine with the aromas this one has. That’s what makes this wine worth it to me (even if I’d have to cash in some stock or something to be able to afford a case). Also has some chocolate flavors that everyone I’ve introduced this wine to has loved.

I agree with Edward: Black… Pepper… RULES. Does anyone know of other black-pepper-aroma wines? I love, love, love ‘em. Like in a “love to see cracked-out photos of Britney Spears on the internet” sort of way. Just can’t get enough.

QOTD: I’ll be going to a 25 winery, tasting event, here in Santa Barbara!

About a month ago, I got to enjoy a Craggy Range, Te Kahu, Gimblett Gravels Vineyard, 2005 and was really blown away by it. I’ll have to pick this one up as well!

QOTD: something white and something red… and maybe something pink.

  21. February 29, 2008

QOTD: Blackbox Syrah 2005 Paso Robles(boxed). I’m going snowboarding and taking the box up for everyone(who don’t know wine) and myself. I’m staying away from grandma and her ice cold cheap Chardonnay 8p

Hey, what about another boxed wine episode. They are perfect for get together and parties which there are a lot coming with spring/summer coming. Gary, thanks for the shows, keep bringing the thunder!

Nice episode…I love the Château Puech-Haut…the 1998 was fantastic.

Tonight it will be Meursault Comtes Lafon 2004 and probably a pinot noir after but wich one…don’t know yet.

    JeffK

LOL great episode Gary and it’s always great to see the Mott’ster!

QOTD: Since today’s match-up was Syrah, I’m going to continue that into the weekend with – 2005 Alban “Reva” Syrah and 2004 Palm Cellars “Judys”

  24. February 29, 2008

    JC

Great episode! QOTD: Have an infection, so I can’t drink, antibiotics and all. Have a drink for me, thanks!
