Waited for this last night and never saw it till after the friday show- I’m a little late to this game, but qotd-wise I’ll probably pop an Estancia Paso Robles cabernet. It’s cheap, and I liked it last time I had it.
btw- excellent show, and Friday’s wasn’t bad either. Nice to see some value in CDP- hope I can find some in my area(ship to Ga. please!) Have a great weekend!

Got the weekend off so I am looking forward to spending it with my friends and loved ones. Hope your weekend is filled with the thunder!

Son, if you want to keep working here, stay off the drugs. Seriously, what’s got into you? Hugely entertaining show. Your new Delta Tau Chi name is – Robert Parker’s Bitch, RPB for short.

QOTD – King Shag Sauv Blanc. Can’t leave Trader Joe’s without one jumping in the basket.

QOTD: Whitehall Lane Merlot, one of my value favorites.

Gary, you need to swallow to mellow out. You’re killing my wine buzz.

Thanks Gary for another educational energiedriven episode. I think you are so right, recommending the southern rhone. Btw: sometimes a good gigondas brings even more thunder then Chateauneuf (at even lower prices).

GREAT Episode! I love wines from Chateauneuf-du-Pape.. It’s great to hear those price ranges also.. I will be picking some up.. Old World wine is #1 .. Terroir , Earth, minerals.. You just can’t get that in New World Wines… This Weekend I will be enjoying (with friends and sunday with my moms..) Carchelo 05′ Monastrell from Jumilla… #2 on the list is Hayman & Hill 05′ Meritage (Monterey County – Reserve Selection.) 43.8% Cab, 24.7% Merlot, 5.7% Cab Franc, 15% Malbec, amd 11.3% Petite Verdot.. That one sounds very interesting on paper.. and Finally Chateau Recougne 03′ Bordeaux Superieur….
Anyway – Keep the great shows and energy.. (You never lack energy..) Have a good weekend…

QOTD: Definitely am opening the Domaine Antonin Guyon 02 Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chenes I recently picked up. Other wines on the hit list include the Coviv 04 Aglianico del Vulture, Sella 01 Lessona, Sella 04 Orbello, Vietti 05 Babera D’Asti Tre Vigne, Edmunds St John 05 Rocks and Gravel, and the Edmunds St. John 05 Shell and Bone. Will probably hit 3 or 4 of those.

QOTD: I have quite a reserve built up for all the bball games (GO PITT!). I’m really becoming hooked with little penguin wines though, have a handful of those ready to be popped. My fiance can TOTALLY agree with your friendly emailer…I talk about “Gary” alllll the time. Annoys her a bit but she loves you too, keep it going and you can be our 3rd wheel ANYTIME!

I really liked your show tonight. I’m not sure what I’ll be drinking this weekend. Last night I made some new friends sharing wine on the first third thirsty Thursday and tasted some very interesting wines. It was very fun and amazing how much we seemed to have in common. Thanks for that. Thanks for your energy and enthusiasm.

QOTD: this weekend’s special wine is one of my favorites, 2003 Sansonnet … bought a bunch way back on sale for $21.21 and now that it is $35 I love them even more!

    Wow! High octane show!
    QoTd
This weekend I’m trying a Freixenet Spumante Cava (Spain) and a 2006 J Lohr Monterey (CA) Riesling. We’ll see how they roll.

QOTD: Drinking Travaglini Gattinara 2002 think weekend along with some Graham’s 10 Yr. Aged Tawny Porto
Great to see your little monkey was cranked.
Now how about getting MOTT his tee shirt so his monkey can get cranking?

    Dude,
there are a lot of female Vayniacs. My husband drinks Coors Light (ewww!! not even good beer.) Does that make him a GV widower? His and her tee shirts?

QOTD: i’ll open a Kaiken Ultra Malbec 2006 with my “parillada”

Home without guests for the first weekend since very recently moving – alone in a new city (not sure it qualifies as that) – and opening the ‘05 Chasseur Freestone Station Pinot just for me. – and I don’t even ‘like Pinot’.

    Nice show, man. Nice show.

QOTD: 2005 Bordeaux tasting this weekend. Ch Pipeau, Ch Puygeuraud, and Ch Les Trois Croix.

That really is it Gary. I can actually feel like I’m tasting the wine along with you thanks to the magnificent way you can express the flavors and textures and aromas that you experience. Way cool.

I love the Chateaunneuf du Papes… and it was a great show. But I won’t open any from our (small) cellar cause wifey is out of town. So I will be going cheap. Some cheese, Tallegio unpasturized soft cow’s milk cheese from Italy tonight, with the Jonesy Port ($10) from australia. Tomorrow, leftover BBQ from Cooper’s, can’t decide white Domaine de Vaugon Vouvray Demi-Sec 2006 or red Badia Coltibuono Cetamura Chianti 2005. Sunday on the road cause somebody wanted a Monday morning meeting, eating supper somewhere between Richmond VA and Lexington Park, MD. Probably crab cakes and whatever white looks good.

QOTD — Forchini Vineyards “Extreme” Dry Creek 2005 — Extreme sports, extreme dining [think Japanese blowfish]….and now extreme wine!?? Don’t worry….the only thing extreme about it is taste. Aged 20 months in American oak. We dare you not to like it.

  22. March 21, 2008

    Chris G

QOTD: Kerschbaum Pinot Blanc 2006, my first Austrian Pinot Blanc!
My girlfriend now refers to you as my ‘boyfriend’ so I guess she’s starting to feel a bit like a widow (or that I’ve dumped her for you!). She doesn’t complain about the great wine she get’s to drink though so I guess she’s finding solace in the bottom of a bottle.

  23. March 21, 2008

I will be drinking a couple things this weekend. Chateau St. Michelle “Nellies Garden” Rose will be the main wine for Easter (my mom’s and my fav!) Bugey Cerdon Rose bubbles, and a Townshend ‘03 Cabrenet Sav. YUMMY!! :)

2006 KB RRV PN – BTW, my fiance is soon to be widowed by GV too. Keep it up!

Local liquor store had no chateau neuf-du-pape! :(
Isn’t that sad? Only a WL wristband could make
it better or maybe the 2003 Louis Bernard Gigondas
    I bought.
