QOTD: If I’m not at school or at home, I generally hang out at a local tea house. (kinda like a starbucks but independent and focuses on loose leaf tea instead of coffee.)

Great job picking the wines Gary. I’ve said it before and I will say it again louder YOU NEED TO DO THIS ONCE A MONTH! I love how you broke up the pack so that some of the people on limited budgets could taste along. The secret packs are fun. Next time though I am going to get two sets. I think it would be fun to put some of the wines away and see how they evolve.

QOTD: We live in Downtown San Diego. we roll around and live the cafe life.

OK, OK, OK. I learned my lesson. I bought two of the secret 4-packs to share with neighbors & friends (not that they are mutually exclusive), but have not been able to enjoy their tasting due to one thing or another. So I take a major pazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz on the secret 1- and 2-packs, and what happens: you come up with a fantastic (90 point) white bordeaux and two (repeat, two – not one, but two) reds from Languedoc-Roussillon. And one of them is even a Fitou wine. And you hit all my hot buttons with words like cassis and cheese. And you know they’re good by your body language: drinking directly out of the bottle and sharing both reds with the Mottster. I mean when something is so good that you just have to share that goodness with someone, you know it’s good.

It was a hard lesson to learn, but I will get the next secret pack no matter what.

Gary: When you announced the one or two-pack offer, you didn’t make clear they were THREE different wines. I ordered the two pack thinking you were going to taste two wines. I should have ordered both packs to better compare my palate and nose with yours. Please make this more clear for a future offer. Thanks for the opportunity to taste the wines along with you!

Not to bust on you Gary, but the whole point for me buying the secret pack, was to be able to compare notes..and you totally blew off what you got from the sniffy sniff, on the Le muscle…Wow, how different our palates must be……I didn’t get much flavor from the le muscle at all, although did get the tanniny part.I liked the Fitou MUCH better, got the tomato juice on the nose part, and agree on the strange finish…

QPTD: Next weekend I’ll be hanging out at Seattle Storage with you, GaryV (and Mottt, and Matt!!!!). :)

I mostly hang out at home with my husband, but we’re known to head to wine tastings at shops and wine bars on Friday nights and Saturday afternoons. Oh, and once-a-month I get to hang out with uber-cool Seattle Vayniacs.

Did anyone smell cat piss in the 2nd happy face wine (le muscle’)– once I figured out that smell I can’t smell anything else about that wine!
