way too hard to decide…if you have ever been to Italy you’ll know that every authentic dish you have is your new favorite…but a few of my own are la tagliatelle al cinghiale….o i gnocchi ai tartuffi…or la pizza margherita extra con prosciutto di parma….and basically the list keeps going

QOTD: So many choices. I love Egg Plant Parm, if done well. Or homemade pasta with bolognese sauce.

I would have to say Baked Four Cheese Tortellini from Benito II in Little Italy, NYC. Most fantastic meal I’ve ever had and I’m dying to get back that way to eat it again… it’s been a few years.

I gota go for the Chicken Scarpariello, which actually means the Shoemaker’s Chicken because traditionally it was a dish preparred mostly by the lower classes in Italy (a little fun fact).

QOTD: Toss up between Rachel’s wedding soup or our friend Linda’s stuffed canoli’s.

Quite a shame the majority of us can’t touch Barolo because of the pricing. $50+ for a bottle? Ouch!

QOTD: Homemade Red Sauce(not Gravy) with Meatballs, Sausage, Pork bones and /or Braciole over just about any pasta(Fusilli is a fav)even bread-dunking. Clam Sauce and Fra Diavolo sauce with any kind of Shellfish. And of course, a well-paired wine.

    Gary,

Another lurker coming out. I’ve been watching for about 50 episodes (plus I’ve been back to many in the archives). The QOTD is my motivation for finally leaving a comment.

QOTD: I’m big on lots of different Italian foods arrosticini (lamb spiedini), roast porchetta on a crusty roll with spicy pickled eggplant, polenta with meat and mushroom sauce, rapini sauteed in lots of garlic and olive oil. It’s hard to stop…

…and the wines: Cannonau di Sardegna (Sella&Mosca riserva 2003), Valpolicella (ripasso, lately), Montepulciano D’Abruzzo (La Valentina)

QOTD: very hard question…like asking what your favorite wine, song, movie…Top two… fresh homemade tagliatelle, tossed with shallots, crisp pancetta and topped with grated pecorino cheese. Or a mushroom risotto and a bottle of Barolo with either. Cheers
