QOTD: How about starting with clams oreganato, moving on to osso bucco, and finishing with sfogliatelle pastries? Yeah, that works.
Now if we could get Furio Giunta to take care of the freakin’ annoying clown with the noisy shutter, we’d really be talking.

    Great episode!

QOTD: Probably Gnocchi (fine dining) or Pizza (I’m too lazy and/or Godfather is on marathon again and I don’t want to cook/go out)

PS there was some sort of background noise; it sounded like Mott was swishing wine around! T or F?

the shows in washuigton with the audience were nice. Not a fan of young barolo. far too tannic generally. You Should taste some 10-20 yr old barolo.
QOTD— i love all italian food

Great episode to start a new week!
QOTD- I pretty much like all italian food so I am going to say lasagna, it has a little of everything in it.

Wow….great show. I love to see some Barolo action comming onto the show. It’d be nice to see you do a tasting of one young Barolo and one older (10+) Barolo from the same producer….

QOTD: Gnocci – I fell in LOVE with this in a small restaurant in Korea (I know, I know…hold your laughs.) called “La Tavola” but it is still something I love to try when getting out to a quality Italian restaurant that or Fra Diavlo

Great show, love the Italians for both the wine and the food. Last Barolo I had was a 2001 Pio Cesare, it was really nice, but it definitely needed more time in the bottle. I think many need at least 10 years.

QOTD: My homemade Osso Buco, it melts in your mouth.

    I Love the nebbiolo.

QOTD: Tomatoes (Pomodori). Italian food as we know it wouldn’t exist without them.

Good to have you back, GV. I enjoyed the Washington episodes, but I love the ‘original’ format after a few episode away(that’s just the kind of guy I am).

QTOD: This is extremely tough! Penne a la carbonara is fantastic, and anything with sundried tomatoes is kick ass. But the winner is… Abruzzi Style pizza!!!

QOTD: Pasta Pasta Pasta and a simple marinara sauce. Lots of garlic and basil. Another great show Gary! Thanks

Welcome back GV. Another great show.

QOTD: Costolette di Vitello Capricciosa (Veal Milanese)

Good to have you back, Gary.

QOTD: That is such a tough one. I love a good risotto, never turn down a fresh caprese salad or carpaccio, but I think I’d have to go with a simple prosciutto sandwich. Actually wait, the speck (smoked proscuitto) pizza at Pizzeria Mozza almost made me explode, so I’ll vote for that.

First show that I watched with my kids. Amanda (9) and Andrew (7) both showed great interest. Andrew especially loved the Escargot comment, as that is his favorite food. He also said many times how you are a touch “freaky”….cinammon toast crunch threw them over the edge.

    QOTD:

    Andrew (7) Pizza
    Amanda (9) Pasta
Me (slightly older) Seafood Fra Diavolo

    Keep up the good work.

Fun show. A bit out of our price range but you never know…

QOTD: Carl says pizza. I am a Fettuccine alfredo fan.

Is the sugar-fied thing becoming more popular in Barolo these days? We had a sugar-fied barolo – 2001 Cavallotto Barolo Riserva Vignolo – that the wine advocate claimed was in a more rustic style, and it did have a little residual sugar, though with ripping tannins to balance.

QOTD: I find Italian food rather bland and boring. I mean, it’s ok, and all, but I’ve never really been enchanted by the aromas or flavors, compared to French or Asian cuisine. My dad’s not a big fan either, so we rarely have Italian at home.

I agree with you GV; I liked that episode too.

QOTD: anything my grandmother makes, especially all the stuff from scratch. It’s great having an Italian grandmother.

QotD: Wow, that IS a good question! I’ve always been particularly fond of lasagna and baked ziti, but I’ve once had the joy of enjoying stuffed chicken with spinach leaves and ricotta cheese.

You could have run me over with a HumVee at that moment, and I would have had no regrets about my choices in life. LOL

QOTD: My homemade pasta with an embarrassment of EV, garlic, and shrimp. Did I mention Chianti ? Good Show!!
