had some chenin blanc for the first and last time in santa barbara at a vineyard called buttonwood. tasty. can’t remember it much, i was not much of a wine drinker then. however, i enjoyed it enough to buy a few bottles.

Hey, I like it! Your making folks get out of their box!! I remember my folks drinking C Blanc in the late 70’s and early 80’s from Napa. But out here in Cali, the white that rules is Chard! And I’ve been really trying other whites, because I am getting tired of the prices these folks want for Chard!! It’s crazy money when the wine by the glass program’s are loaded with $9-$20 per glass Chards!!

I’m going to sent this link to about 10-20 restaurants I know, they need to put some C Blanc on the list for summer!

last CB was McKinley Springs, from Horse Heaven Hills WA – Most on point domestic Chenin i’ve had – for $14! – Trademark nose like in aged Savennieres, of honeycomb and clean swimming pool. Unmistakable and captivating. Most memorable was ‘90 Coulee de Serrant -peanuts and cocktail sauce!!! Keep Bringin’ Chenin Thunder !

You have almost convinced me that I need to stop being sooo snobby to white wines. I may have to go find a bottle of chenin blanc this weekend, since I have never tried one before.

    Thanks Gary!

QOTD – Go Figure…I looked back through the last four years of consumed bottles, and out of 750 consumed not a single Chenin Blanc. Guess that I have a wine that I need to try.

As a relative newbie to wine I haven’t had a Chenin Blanc yet. It is certainly on my list especially the Cederberg.

I love seeing one of my favorite whites on your show…I think the last “over the top” Chennin I had was the ‘05 Baumard Quarts de Chaume. I have a bottle of ‘05 Champalou in my fridge right now waiting for the next day when I’m ready for a white….good stuff….good stuff.

QOTD: MAN Vintners 2007 Chenin Blanc.

It’s really sweet and fruity. I’ll have to try some more of them to test out this versatility thing.

QOTD: My favorite Chenin Blanc would be Chateau Moncontour. It’s a Vouvray but it’s made with 100% Chenin Blanc from the Loire region.

    Chateau de Vaults Savennieres.

Cool episode. Would like to try this varietal at my winery. Too bad it has such a negative association with jug wine.

  24. April 17, 2008

    Raffy

The varietal sounds great for Philippine cuisine – will try to find it here. What’s the best temp to serve it? considering our weather is like 32 to 38 deg C in the summer.

  25. April 17, 2008

    GenericGuy

QOTD: Never had one. Guess I need to expand my palette some more.
