Gary…. you are taking us SERIOUS, DAWG! I have not tried a Greco Di Tufo. I’ll be looking for it this weekend.

Great episode. Have not have the Greco di Tufo, will put it on my ever growing list.

Will see about an Italian white. Do not have a trip to the store planned but I will complete this task.

PS- What’s up with the “Free Mott” sign behind you GV? Have you chained him to a piece of furniture in your office and that was his sign to the Vayner Nation to try and emancipate him? :)

And NB_SPAZZ, that Rosa Regale is a crowd pleaser, but I thought there was too much sugar.

QOTD: To tell the truth, I’ve been avoiding Italian whites because I’ve heard that they’re sort of bland and that the reds of Italy are of much better quality. I’ll taste an Italian white real soon.

I sense a Jekyll/Hyde thing going on. The buttoned-up look is the evil Mr. Hyde and the relaxed look is the benevolent Dr. Jekyll. But they both hate Vinnie Testaverde and that other guy. Which one sucks fish eyes?

Great show G! Never had a Greco di Tufo. I checked our wine monopole here in Quebec (SAQ.com) and only 1 kind of Greco di Tufo is available for sale in the whole province ; Mastroberardino Greco di Tufo 2006 (22$)…I guess I’ll be trying this one! Cheers

Ahhh, so many wines, so little time. Never had the Greco di Tufo, so it will be one I look into. Thanks GV for another informative show.

Looking forward to #450 tomorrow…. Mott, you’re so creative with your film angles. ;)

QotD: Too many wines I haven’t tried. I added the last one to my cart.

Gary, You are driving me either crazy or to drink. I can’t keep up with all the varietals that you try and that I haven’t had. Would love to try the GDT but I am still working on the Sancerre. Too much wine and not enough days to drink it all. Tough life.

I had some Bianco recently it was pretty good and brought some different taste characteristics. Qotd I haven’t realy had Soave and would like to try a few.

Great show Gary, and a friend of mine talk to me about this wine and the answer of the question would be

QOTD #1: No i never tried
QOTD #2: Maybe this weekend my friend told me that an interesting pairing with the GDT is Cochinita Pibil a typical mexican food

  15. April 22, 2008

    Anthony L.

greco di Tufo is definitely on the list. Never had it before.

    Leif Erik Sundstrom

QOTD 1: Yes had a few Greco di Tufo, but never was a impressed, was much more intrigued by the Lacryma Christi wines (different name, same grape grown on Visuvius–maybe it’s the volcanic soils there that make them consistently better than the more sulfurous soils of most Greco areas).

QOTD 2: There are a lot of Italian white grapes I’ve tried and so many that I haven’t—-
    Albarola
    Ansonica
    Bellone
    Erbaluce
    Nuragus

just to name a few, but where the hell do I find these wines? But the one I want to try this weekend is Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle, from Vallee d’Aosta, of the Prie Blanc vine. Heard it’s a cool one, must ‘give it a whirl’.

Also…HOW BOUT A JURA SHOW??? email me

I’m in for a bottle of the Aminea, just because of the rubber band and cauliflower component! Hilarious! I’m thinking this would be a great summer wine for us guy-dudes who refuse to drink rose.

QOTD: Nope. Never even heard of it. Looking forward to sharing it with everyone in my group! Oh wait, they all watch WLTV too…hmmmm…oh well! Rock on, Mott.

I like that we’re mixing up the varietals, GV. Don’t get me wrong… I like to hear about how things are going in California and France, but the main reason I started watching WLTV was to learn. I think that the previous episodes (449!) provide enough content on the more popular regions and varietals, as well as tackling everyday questions like glass types, decanting, palate development, etc etc. Now… it’s time to keep educating (learning)! Like I said yesterday… I think we need to dedicate a couple shows to Tokaji and Georgian reds!!! That would mix things up!

    QOTD: Orvieto and/or Verdicchio

  19. April 22, 2008

QOTD: never heard of the greco di tufo, but i’ve been wanting to try a Pigato.
