Great show. I always enjoy a guest. Excellent topic.

QOTD: It’s been a long time since I had a first date(over 30 years) but my husband and I still have special “dates” and wine is always a part of them.

Nice show. I liked this guest and have enjoyed your other shows with guests. QOTD: no real “moves”. Good to see you taste a white Rhone blend from California. I need to try more of those. Thanks.

Great show – one of the best – lots of fun, good energy, good wines, great guest.

qotd: tapas. little plates, sharing food, wine, lots of fun.

Loved the episode! It was nice to see someone who is very new to the wine world with an untrained palate vs the well experienced-superpalate…and to have someone disagree with you…just goes to show what you have saying all the time…try it, you might like it.

QOTD: I’m too old for dates!

that was a great episode, and she was a great guest.

qotd: it’s been a very long time since i’ve had a first date, but at the last one I had we played board games and had some snacks. seems to have worked out for me pretty well.

Gary, you forgot to give us her phone #! She is smoking!!!
    QOTD: Dinner, drinks, my crib…

Very interesting episode. Like the Treana Meritage a lot and get it when I see it on wine lists. How can you go too wrong with Roussene. I have been married longer than not in my life now almost 33 years so I can’t even remember dating. Only move I ever made was to make them laugh. As Woody Allen said, ” make them laugh and they are less likely to beat you up.”

great show. it is true, how come the date/ wine episode never took place before?

QOTD – i have not had one of these in a while. i always liked going to a low key restaurant, but a very good one. ma and pa food but out of the way a bit. just chat it up a bit. kissing on the first date can be fun. my favorite wine ” date ” move was getting it on on the couch, drinking wine and maybe sneaking a bit in her mouth when kissing. works all the time. CKC…. work it.
when i was in HS, i had an older cute girl for dinner at my mom’s place and i asked her if she wanted wine. there was some in the fridge. it was cooking wine….blah. bad move.

i am getting all nostalgic about 1st dates now.

I love the color on the rose — hot pink! Was it really that brilliant, or did the camera add a few shades?
Great guest — of course, I’m a HUGE fan of the guest shows ;) She was charming.
QOTD: HA! I have no moves! I have never really dated very much. I just try to be myself, and usually I do something against “the rules” when I really like someone or am trying to get their attention. Like, I just up and gave John my phone number, and he called it right away — case closed! I guess I feel like guys like to know where they stand right away. If it comes across as ’scary’ to them, then they aren’t right for me anyway!

Awesome show. More guests! More guests! (No offense intended Gary). They bring a different perspective to the show.

QOTD: It has been so long since I had a first date, I can’t remember ;)

QOTD: On all my first dates the guy has picked the itinerary, but i’m usually happy with it if i can get him to laugh. I can’t imagine going through life without laughing, so that’s my standard goal in the beginning. If we can make each other laugh, there’s potential.

Great show Gary… she was a fun guest! Kinda like a real-life Carrie Bradshaw (Sex and the City)! Good idea with the date wines.

QOTD: I gotta agree with Oklahoma Michael, especially if the lunch itself is romantic(a baguette, disc of good goat cheese, and a bottle of sancerre)…I can feel the love already!! Great show, fun guest!

    Garrick

Excellent show, very fun! Can’t wait to see some episodes about beer!

    QotD: What is a date?

  15. April 25, 2008

    Mandy

Super cute guest! Love these type of shows.

Best date opener… anything involving booze. Though I will say we girls appreciate a creative approach. Sitting in a movie with someone you don’t know is just Awkward!

First date? Not sure they even had calandars back when I had my last first date, I guess it was a particularly smooth operation (not!) by a fumbling mumbling teenager – not one for the training video!!

As for the show – wines not available in UK, certainly not for those prices, but very entertaining, and what a charming guest!

p.s the reason for not having a first date for so long is not that i am a total loser, just been in a long term relationship for ages!!

    QOTD:
I usually skip “dating” and try to open up a friendship into a relationship. Ice skating or a walk in park with a picnic would have to be the best way to be able to spend your first date close while still in public. They’re not something they do every day, they’re fun and active, and they show some thought.

Avoid as much as you can the dinner and/or the movie. Cliche and pointlessly expensive. Plus, neither encourage conversation.

    I am on a roll!

    Good call on the Rose.

Pick her up in a clean vehicle, take to good restaurant with nice views and some privacy so we can have a nice bottle and a nice chat..good show gv

    Great show, Gary!

QotD: My favorite first date move is to bring the humor when the mood needs it. More often than not, both you and your date are feeling a little awkward and anxious. Loosen things up with a little joke — a little shared laughter between two people goes a long way.

  22. April 25, 2008

    T. Bone

Hey man, you should let her talk more, she’s a cute, spunky girl!

Great guest, could use some more of those dating tips too. Really like it when you get guests on, it’s fun to see the interactions (and the way non-9M dollar tongues work). You do really well with the guest-dynamic.

Always fun to go to a new restaurant, exploring wine and food is a great way to get to know someone. Love to invite them over and cook up a meal too, can be more personal and relaxing. Also, spear fishing can be a great ice breaker.

Sweet! It’s FBC on WLTV! Excellente! Great show. You guys played off each other so well.

    Do it again!

definately want to see some beer incorporated into the show. wine can never compete with my love of ales. especially when going out for a beer is a unique experience from home, it always tastes a little better when you can get it on tap. but wine is always the same, it’s from the bottle at home or at a restaurant . . . unless maybe if your gary v. and you get to do pre-bottling tastings at the winery, great show today!

great show! awesome idea. well executed. good guest. nice to see an untrained palate next to the “superpalate.” you SHOULD get it insured. wonder if that’s possible…

qotd: usually i meet someone through friends, so there is no first date because we know each other really well already.
