first off, not in NYC on the 13th, sorry…
    QOTD:
what can WLTV do for me? hire me as an intern for a stint. some kind of a position where i can be involved in buying and tasting, and seeing the ins and outs fo the internet side of things as well. i gots some ideas and need an educational launch before i dispell them.
this is indeed a lot to ask, and nothing i’ve considered until you asked… so it’s spontaneous and innocent request.

Great show, the Cornas might roll a little to heavy for me they’re pretty expensive. Cant wait for Conan
No, I won’t be at the signing.
QOTD I just appreciate that you put the show out daily, so all I ask is that it keeps going as long as possible. Thanks for everything Gary!

Bummer the JLC Cornas didn’t show quite well today, but I gotta tell ya, if you ever get invited to a party Jean-Luc is going to be it, don’t hesitate. The guy loves food and wine more than anyone I’ve ever met. I was at this thing once on a roof deck in Hell’s Kitchen (his US marketing guy’s apartment) and he had about 100 people crammed up there. The whole time, Jean-Luc was running around like a maniac. Every so often you’d here WHACK! WHACK! WHACK! … I look over, and he’s hacking apart two WHOLE tunas. He’d throw the chunks on the grill with some sea salt and olive oil real quickly, then run over to one of four who prosciutto legs and hack off chunks for everyone, then go hack at the tuna some more. Was really great fun, but mostly showed that Cornas wines can be for a casual gathering with simple, solid food. Was a total blast!

Ask not what Wine Library can do for you but what you can do for Wine Library.

QOTD: Blind tastings are good, but getting conan to eat dirty sock is even better. Keep on bringing it day in and day out.

What can WLTV do for us?

I would like to see a “preview” schedule of what you are going to taste. Even is it is “tentative” and subject to change if something BIG comes up. You could plan the Mon – Thr tastings and still surprise us on the laid back Friday show. What’cha think?

WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! a shout out, just for me !!!!!!!!!!

To answer your question about being 40: Here is what 40 feels like… opened up a bottle of Penfolds Grange 2001 about a month ago, drank most of it with my wife…it was heavenly. Then, the next morning, I wake up feeling old and tired (and thirsty) only to realize there was still some juice left in the bottle (about a full glass!), poured it into a big-ass glass, and oh my oh my oh my… IT WAS HEAVEN…so much more complex… just so much better… So, you may think 40 is old, then when you get there, you realize, it’s sooooooooooo much better than before… Best Gary, thanks again for the b/day shout out…

I bought a few bottles each of the Paris Granit 60 and Paris Granit 30 a few months back with the intent of just sitting on it for a few years. If I can remember, I’ll let you know how it goes. I’m becoming a bigger and bigger fan of syrah all the time it seems.

I’m in NYC, maybe I can do the book signing, but I’m not sure yet.

    QOTD: More blind tastings.

    Crap…I knew I missed something…

QOTD: Keep on keeping on. What does WLTV need from me?

    Great Show!!!

Ive had a couple of Cornas and I absolutely love them. If only it were a bit cheaper. I’d rather go for a Madiran when I’m looking for that huge tannic monster wine.

QOTD: What can WLTV do for me? The amount of education I’m getting out of it is incredible and will hopefully go towards opening up a wine bar down here in texas in the next 2 to 3 years.

I have not yet had a cornas, but after this show I am buying some. To bad I will have to wait for several years to enjoy. I may see if I can locate some older vintages in the local wine shops.

I am setting the DVR for Conan.

Excellent show, GV! I know I am a sucker for the Rhone shows, but this was right up my alley. Great stuff! And congrats on the second appearance on Conan. Of course, I just cut cable so I’ll have to wait a few days before seeing it (but I am sure you’ll be getting Mott to link it up).

Good Viewer QOTD from Christophe: When is the book signing in SF?

Gary great show! A big congrats on being on Conan again. I will defiantly will be watching!

QOTD: I don’t think there is anything more you can do. Like the old saying “If it not broke don’t fix it”.

  18. April 29, 2008

    KVolk

Never tried any of the wines you mentioned and no book signing I am afraid….keep bring the Thunder every day.

Props about the Conan show! Wish I was in NY for the events. You should come out to Phoenix for a book signing before it becomes unbearably HOT.

QOTD: I guess this is more of a Wine Library thing, but you could integrate it with the show… I’d like to see a http://mobile.winelibrary.com (http://m.winelibrary.com for short). It would be nice to have a handy reference–a primer, if you will–for the store rather than making lists by hand.

GONNNNNNNNAAAAAA miss the book signing by one day?!!! leaving NYC on the 13th, however will definitely join you at the Conan watching so we can finally meet!!

Good show, I love Cornas, about time dude!!

Any way to get a book signed before that? It’ll be tough to get you to sign one in Costa Rica

  21. April 29, 2008

    Saftig

I’m definitely ordering a Cornas today without fail. Syrah and I get along very well.
QOTD: In your spare time (yeah, I know, what’s that?) share some weird ass wine facts of the day. I’ll be happy to be your researcher on this.
    Great show today.

I’m so jacked that you brought back the, “Oooh this.” Nice work. Also, the call out about Runts was hilarious.

Although I haven’t had that particular one, I’ve had a couple wines from Jean Luc Colombo and have really enjoyed the barnyard (poop) aspect on the nose.

QOTD: WLTV can make me the host of Beer Library TV.

QOTD: what can WLTV do for me, it can do more burgundy episodes with some good red burgs, that’s what it can do for me :)

Alas, the only Fixin I had was oxidized.

QOTD — I’m happy with it as is . . . well, when the show is running late or isn’t going to show, a notice would be nice

Re: the decanter – the Wine Fall? Near instantaneous decanting?

Re: 21st birthday wine – my Dad has an ‘88 magnum of Napa Cabernet waiting for me in our “wine cellar” (basically a closet under our stairs filled with wine)… not sure about which winery it’s from, but I’m looking forward to it.

How can a Vayniac give YOU a birthday shout-out, Gary??

QOTD: In the spirit of John F. Kennedy, I shall not tell you what Wine Library TV can do for me, but ask what I can do for Wine Library TV. …So, what can I do, especially since I can’t buy wine yet? Maybe buy a book or two? What else?
