QotD: I’d like to see one episode where ONE wine being sampled has been decanted, chilled, and left at room temperature. This could be a cool experiment for a Laid Back Friday while you’re answering questions, or for another Secret Pack in the future.

Take one wine — any varietal, any region, any color — and get three bottles of it. Chill one bottle. Decant another bottle for a few hours before taping, and open the third bottle at room temperature during the episode.

QOTD: WL can pressure state legislatures to change the wine shipping laws in this country so we can ship between all states.

QOTD: Garagista wines would be cool. Good idea, torquey.

I’d like a show on helping me pick the best wines in the store. When I go, I know that I want to try something new, but when I’m looking at four different Greco’s and I can only get one, which one do I pick?

QOTD: What can Wine Library do for me? A show on garagista wines!

QOTD: “Dream Team” 2005 Bordeaux half case or full case under a certain price. Maybe under $300 half case and about $500 full case. I’m looking for some solid buys that I can hang on to for major events over the next 10 years or so. Thanks, Gary!

Side Bar 1: Not attending–must work.
Side Bar 2: Probably not had those varietals.

QOTD: Keep doing what you’re doing. I’m happy and entertained by WLTV.

Loved the show as always….QOTD: Just keep bringing the THUNDER and do what you do best!Educating the wine world.

    Gee

Wow, nice show. I love Cornas too, but prices are steep. I had the good fortune to taste a dozen 2004 and 2005 Cornas at a wine shop in Paris. Free tasting of $50-$100 bottles! They were ALL stunning, and that was my intro to Cornas.
Fixin? Very good red burgundy for affordable prices. Still have 1996 and 2002 in the cellar. Last had Fixin about 3 months ago.
Quincy? For the money, I’d rather stick with Sancerre (white). Last had Quincy about 1 year ago.
QOTD: How ’bout free shipping on wines reviewed on the show? I’d be in for the $40 Cornas Granit 60…

Hi Gary your elbow nothing stop pouring wines this is a wine elbow :) and don’t stay too close to the red bottles :) what an amazing color this third syrah !!!! really great color !!! thank you for this focus on cornas shall i recall a varietal wine !
QOTD : wltv pushes me every day to be more curious about wines…

yeah baby, cornas. i have had cornas a few times and it did it for me. it is hard though because it is hard to find and not under 20 bucks. not that $20 is my limit, but still. anyhow, coolness on cornas. my favorite description is that of being whipped in the tongue with a leather whip.

QOTD: you can keep doing your show and mixing it up. \
QOTD: have some more inside people on like mr davies : ) i suggest lyle fass ( big football fan too) and alice feiring ( also coming out with a book and has a pelethera of great descriptions for the wine)
QOTD: how about supporting my wine habit with some free wine, or reallllly good deals.

  17. April 30, 2008

    J Crazy

QOTD1: Can’t make it out…too far from Japan.

QOTD2: Call me a romantic but I love to hear about the history of the winery, wine region, winemakers, etc. Also, maybe once a month or once every two weeks or so do a “wine 101.g” or some themed show without as much tasting and more on the content of a certain aspect of wine.
    Ex: Explain Biodynamics
Talk about reduction in screw caps and that whole battle.
    Talk about soil and terroir.
Highlight rising stars, vanguards from ages past, overlooked, etc…but not in any reference to a certain wine but as almost a “class” on wine.

I think a lot of people would find your take and flare extrememly entertaining and won’t go (waste) spend their money for boring, superficial “classes” on other popular websites.

    Just my 18 cents.

Wine Library can come down under to Australia. Bring some thunder down under.. Oh that rhymes.

    Hey GV
I can’t believe that you DIDN’T decant these wines! You HAD to know about the tannins. checked out ep 18 recently – lots of fun. QOTD – just for fun – do a blind tasting. Have Mott or familia or staff pick some wines and have you taste blind. could be fun.

QOTD: Review a Grillo, svp. And send Sean Avery all your corked wines ;>)

(and iirc, there’s a 16 you can vent on for a bit).

Never tried a Cornas, need to go russle up a bottle. Thanks for the enthusiasm and info. Have had a couple Fixins and enjoyed them muchly. Keep rocking with the lesser-knowns and educational details, can’t get enough.

QOTD: You are already doing it. Don’t stop the thunder. Ever.

QuincyOTD: Have I ever tried a Quincy in this lifetime? About 6 hours ago.
The French Wine Roadshow passed through Vancouver and we went to the tasting this afternoon. There was a whole table filled with Quincy SBs and they were delicious.

Cornas…have never tried it. I sure with I could buy it from Wine Library. Which leads to the QOTD: WLTV can talk to the good people at http://www.winelibrary.com and get them to start shipping to WA state again. Seriously, I would spend way too much $ with y’all. So maybe that means don’t do this. Wait, do this. Work it out. I’ve even sent emails to the state congress people involved in the votes here. Don’t know what else to do.
