I just got a 100% tempranillo wine that was low in price and rated high so I am curious how it will taste.
QOTD: My go to cereals are cinnamon toast crunch and peanut butter crunch, keeping it healthy of course.

Great Harvest Bread’s granola. It’s hearty with slivered almonds and apricots, plus I love that they give a generous bread sample loaded with ample butter everytime you go in to the bakery. I’m a sucker for free samples.

My girlfriend’s favorite varietal is Temparanillo, thanks for a doing an episode. Eating Joe’s O’s…aka Trader Joe’s version of Cherrios. Try out the Stagecoach Temp if you ever have a chance (dense, focused, a little young, petite sirah ish and new worldie but darn good)

Gary I watched this video when you posted it and I thought “No way the Pago can be the harsh.” So, I took one off the shelve the give it a taste. OMG It was more massively oaked than I could ever fathom. If the walking tree people from Lord of the Rings bled…..It would taste like this. I did catch a little maraschino cherry action on the first taste. Two hours later all the fruit was gone and the wood was even more intense.

Thank you for allowing me to experience this wonderfully horrific experience. I need a bowl of Honey Nut Cheereos to get this forest out of my mouth.

    Gary,
After seeing your review of the La Linda i walked into a tasting at my local wine shop and they were sampling it. I tried it for myself and agreed with you 100% great wine for the price.
    Thanks for the help.

Based on your review, I ordered 4 bottles from winelibrary (show some support yo!) and at the office I gave 3 bottles away to my office-mates (I was ALMOST thinking of keeping winelibrary and Gary’s reviews all to my self, but decided to share : )

Their homework this week is to come back with tasting notes.

I opened my bottle this evening over dinner. My wife is a personal chef and made her coffee and cocoa dry rubbed churasco steak. This wine was a very nice paring with dinner. Gary you are on the money – sweet berries on the nose and powerful with a hint of acidity on the back end. Very enjoyable – even more when I think I paid $8 for it.

This might have become my new every day wine. I think I’ll order a case now : )

Post Raisin Bran. BTW, great site! I saw you for the first time today on “Mad Money”, and you’re as helpful in the Wine arena as Cramer is in the Stock Market. Now I’m a big fan of you both!

QOTD: I agree, that is a very important question. I’m eating Kellog’s All-Bran, either the Wheat Flakes or Yogurt Bites depending on what I picked up at the grocery store that week. I like that grainy flavor, much better than cereal with nuts or wimpy flakes.

Also… TOTALY going to check out the oaked wine… I am trying to get a nose and mouth feel for oak, so this would obviously be a wine to train that into my palate. I know you don’t like it but thanks for trying it to at least let us know… This is oak. 🙂

  • Lurker, coming out to say a few things.

First, just tried my first tempranillo (well, mostly tempranillo, it was blended with some syrah) today and I love the grape. Yay Portugal!

Second, granola with a bit of yogurt in it. Lovely start to your day.

Third, I love your show, and I never thought I’d be a wine drinker. Slowly but surely you’ll to me into one. Thank you.

Hi Gary. I finally decided to step out of the shadows of lurkerdom.
I’m still under 21, so I can’t get my hands on much vino. However, with your guidance I’ve been working on expanding my palette by eating tobacco and dirt and all of that good stuff 🙂

Tempranillo is my parents favorite varietal, so I’ll definitely clue them in on the thunderous value of La Linda. Thanks for the tip!

QOTD: Kashi Autumn Wheat. Best shredded wheat cereal on the face of this earth.
