Vernaccia Wines From Italy, Another White Wine To Pay Attention To. – Episode #457

May 2, 2008

Vernaccia is another classic white wine that is overlooked by so many as they focus on the 1 or 2 white wines they drink from Italy. I hate to pick on Pinot Grigio but I want people to expand their palates.

QOTD: See, I grew up in Chicago, where there were the Cubs and the White Sox. I was a Cubs fan. Most of my friends were White Sox fans. Then I moved to New York. Oh I was still a Cubs fan, but… c’mon… so I became a Mets fan. I just couldn’t switch to the American League. Most of my friends were Yankees fans. But…I was also a Giants fan. I FINALLY BACKED A WINNER, HA HA! Oh, yeah, the question. See it’s 12:30 and we’ve been drinking a lot of wine, so I digressed there a little. My question is, don’t you feel in the slightest you’ve committed to the wrong team? I mean, it’s probably there, the doubt, the regret, maybe deeply repressed. Actually, it might be the secret to your success. The need to self-actualize in lieu of vicarious victory through your chosen pro sports team has driven you to succeed on your own. Brilliant!! Just kidding! Maybe…

    Hey GV,

Long time, first time… How about a book tour stop in Denver??? (this is starting to sound like Jim Rome and the clones…). If you do, the book store to stop at is the Tattered Cover book store – a great long-time independent book seller. There are there locations around town – pick the downtown or uptown location. Would love to chat with you and compare sports stories and fantasy teams – and maybe some wine picks…

Never heard of or tasted Vernaccia, does not seem up my alley, but willing to expand the palate.

QOTD: If Sasa did not own a liqueur store for you to take over and expand, what would you want to be doing now.

QOTD: WHY??? I mean, why do you do it all, when you could probably dump 75% of it with little or no adverse impact to you at this point?? Most people would take into account the diminishing returns and scale some things back, but you do not roll that way at all. So WHY?? I have a hunch, but would like to hear it from the horse’s mouth.

So, how ’bout some thunder in little ol’ Charlotte? : )

QOTD: I have been wondering this for a while. If you and I were just straight chillin’ at a bar at 1230 in the morning, I would ask you, “What do you do with all the wine you taste after you taste it? Do you taste your Wine Library Staff? Give it to Mott? I guess what I am trying to say is, Where does all the wine go?”

You need to come to the Tattered Book Cover store in Denver. You would be a big hit there! I will work on a contact.

If you make it out to Colorado you are welcome to come by our Studio and shoot some video on our green screen. Some fun with the actors. You and Ninja Jane would be hit!
