Enjoyed Napa years ago, what a treat San Francisco turned out to be. Next would be the Tuscany area. Another good show, the Sauternes sounds like an alternative to our normal Port.

Good show! The Suternes and the Rioja sounds great.

QOTD: I would go to Champagne country in France.

The wine packs were solid. I am saving the dessert wine for a nice New York Cheesecake. After drinking all of those good reds I couldn’t switch my palette to the dessert wine. I would love to go to Bordeaux.

Great show. I’m going to have to try that Rioja as I’ve never had any.

QOTD – Tuscany region in Italy, and I’m going with the family in June.

    Gary,

Awesome Awesome show! I was so excited about receiving my first secret pack and when I noticed that there was a Sauternes I was even more stoked, as I have been dying to try one.

I didn’t taste any of the wines today because I was going to save them for friends, but man was it hard to not open all four bottles and taste them all by myself.

QOTD – I would love to go to any winery in Italy since I have a soft spot for that country since I had lived there for three years.

Great show. The Petit Fleur is good stuff though need to try the Sauterne and the doggie label.

    QOTD: Alsace, hands down.

    Happy B’day Lizzie!!!!

Thanks for the great show Gary. I had over 6 other people to enjoy this experience with you. Absolute blast of a time!

QOTD: Probably West Dry Creek Road in Sonoma. Not the greatest wineries in the world, but a lovely, slow, rural area, and have so many good memories of lazy afternoons touring there.

Funny that you mentioned early ’90s Estancia Meritage! After I first got into wine with Beaujolais and Pouilly Fuisse, the next wine I really enjoyed with my girlfriend was c. ‘89 -’91 vintage Estancia Meritage. We liked it a lot.

I’ll be trying my first Malbec this weekend as part of a dinner I’ll be attending, so with what you’ve mentioned, I’ll look for similar traits in this wine!

Answer to QOD: Since we’re talking about anywhere in the world, I’d have to say ANYWHERE Italy (maybe Pisa or Venice). That would be the one of only two countries in Europe I’d be interested in visiting (Germany being a CLOSE second).

The secret packs were solid after being open for a day (we had a tasting group lastnight), not really big on any except for the Petite Fleur which was by far the group favorite.

QOTD: Getting ready to do Argentina in the spring, and I am on a HUGE Ribera del Duero trip right now, but if I only had one it would have to be Washington State which blew me away when I went to Oregon this spring and a lot of the wineries produce wine from the area.

Pinot is not played out,, this is the problem with american wine buyers .. they re so friggin’ fad oriented.. Pinot will always be part of the greatest wines on earth.. Red burg? No wine should be a victim of the ups and downs of fadism..

This was an awesome show. Props to Erik for filling in for Mott. And I think you’ve got a new t-shirt idea- a rubber ball smeared with apricots. haha. So you’re gonna be on Mad Money? Wow, that’ll totally be a “Thunder-Off!”

QOTD: Rías Baixas! I’d love to try out some Albariño at the vineyards.

    PS- Happy Birth Lizzie!

    QOTD: Tuscany

I’ve been to Burgundy which was fantastic. Also I have been to several other wine regions in France. I have been all over CA. At least 15 years ago, my husband and I talked about a trip to Italy and we still haven’t gone.

It was both my sister’s and my birthday as well today. I am now 22 and my sister is 10. Not as big of a deal for us as we don’t celebrate birthdays, but still very cool. Also it is George Clooney’s birthday today.

    QotD: Nothing specific, but France.
