QOTD – Shafer Hillside. Not sure if i can ever afford to buy this again, but would love to at some point.

Blind tasting is good. I think sometimes is easy to influence the score relative to price.

Loved the format. My favorite Napa Cab is Mount Veeder, With Nickel and Nickel Sulinger close. Got my copy Wednesday from Barnes and Noble and bought two more copies at the store for my brother and one son.

Ridge Montebello is my favorite but from Santa Cruz Mtns, not Napa. I guess I would have to go with some older Heitz Martha’s or Joseph Phelps Insignia that I have had.

My favorite napa cab is the 2003 Keenan Reserve. I would say the 2000 Quentessa, but I don’t think that’s 100% cab.

I agree on the Rocca vs Altamura match. I sell both in my restaurant and would recommend the $110 Rocca over the $150 Altamura. You should try the Rocca Syrah and Bad Boy Red. They’re both incredible for the price

O yes My Fav is Mayacamas Cab

Loved this format GV. You have to do the blind tasting more often. Congrats on all of your recent success.

My favorite Napa Valley vineyard for the 03 and 04 vintages of cabs is Neal Family Vineyards.

Clearly the blind format is the best for the show. Although I’d have preferred a mix of different wines from different places and varietals. Like you once did.

QOTD. Probably a 1990 Montelena, but not a huge fan of Napa/Cali Cab.

    JayZee

Great show! I really enjoyed the blind tasting and your comments and scores. I don’t know if you should do ALL of your tastings blind, but it IS interesting. I think many of your other “themes” are quite excellent and you should continue to mix it up and bring the THUNDER in many ways. :-)

QOTD: My favorite is probably St. Clement Orropas, but that is technically more of a meritage than a cab, per se. So if I had to pick something labeled as cab, I would go with Shafer Hillside or Pine Ridge Howell Mountain.

No favorite Cali Cab Savs. I prefer the french.

Loved the format of this episode. It was more about the wine – producer is secondary.
