The last Carmenere I had was the Natura 2006 vintage and I liked it quite a bit. I’ve been looking for others to try but unfortunately, the wine selection in my part of the world is pretty laughable and WL can’t ship to TN :(

    Great show Gary!

My last Carmenere was a Concha Y Toro, but I had a little more luck with it than you did (it was a Casillero del Diablo lable). From the sounds of things, it was like an imaginary mix between the Errazuriz (defintiely oaked) and the conha y toro (a little green) you tried today…

I promise…if I can find one this weekend.

    Cool show.

QOTD: never had one but I promise to try.

I almost fell out of my chair laughing when you sniffed the Y Toro. I wondered if it would be too veggie even for you.

QOTD — I’ve had it in some blends, but the last 100% was the 2003 Concha Y Toro, actually, which I was not impressed by.

QOTD: The last one that I remember was from Colvin, out of Walla Walla. It was a while ago, but I remember it being pretty good.

An idea… You should have a mini American flag under your table so you can have that in one hand with your 2X4 (the over-oaked wine) in the other to really represent Hacksaw JD.

    Good show.

Don’t remember the last one. I still check daily for that Vina Chocolan Grand Reserve to become available.

QOTD: We found Carmenere a few years ago and have found several that we love as well, so I believe you Gary. The last great one I had was probably a PKNT Carmenere. It wasn’t anything outstanding, but it was solid and I’d drink it again.

Your shirt totally rules!! I need to get one of those… Speaking of. Have you looked into baseball card prices lately? It’s ridiculous. I thought it was bad enough in the early 90s when there were about 6 different brands, but once EVERYONE started coming out with different “special series” I knew the industry was doomed.. there were like 15 different Fleer series going at once! And at the time, every card in the series was worth $50, when a Don Mattingly rookie card was worth $45. I haven’t picked up a Becket since the early 90s, but I remember even then the first 40 years of baseball cards were like 8 pages long, and the last 5 years was like 20 pages. I’m sure they can’t even publish everything now! But case in point, I remember around 1993 my Upper Deck Ken Griffy Jr. rookie card was worth around $125, and now it’s worth about $25!!! That’s so sad… I also have an autographed Donrus “Rated Rookie” Greg Maddux card that’s worth like $20 :-(

What’s this show about again? Wine? Hmm…

QOTD: 2003 Botalcura Carménère La Porfia Grand Reserve that I got from you guys! 91.6 point average on cellartracker.

Montes has done some perfectly serviceable Carmenère. I like them a lot, especially since they’re inexpensive and unique, but haven’t had too many lately.

I have had some Chilean wine but not Carmenere. Thanks for pointing them out to us.

Congrats on yesterday’s book release!! (Already have all 3 wristbands). Great showing on Cramer yesterday – I was looking forward to see how both of your energies worked on camera – think it worked REALLY well. A blast to watch.

QOTD: Just looked at my consumption history on Cellartracker, and it appears I have never had a 100% carmenere bottle. Will promise to try one, hopefully my luck will be better than yours on todays show.

QOTD: I’ve never had a Carmenere. I’ve seen one bottle from France in a local store and have contemplated trying it, but after today’s episode, I’m kinda skeptical.

I PROMISE to try a Carmenere sometime before the end of June, IF I can find a bottle from Chile and it’s not one from this episode.

Good show, and you were great on Conan!

I would be so rediculously stoked if I could get a wristband. I may lose sleep over this :(

Not big on the carmenere, or really chile in general.
