QOTD: Vincent Girardin 2005 Chassagne Montrachet. White burg is currently the only chardonnay based wine that does it for me.

Vega Sindoa from Spain. Pretty mediocre, oak and butter like Cali.

QOTD: 2006 Edna Valley Vineyard “Paragon” San Luis Obispo County Chardonnay for $10 at K&L. It was pretty awful because of – you guessed it – the Oak Monster.

Oh.. the super market series….let them be rare, brief occurences.

QOTD: Elena Walch 2004 Chardonnay, easily the best italian Chardonnay I’ve ever had. Surprisingly-with very little oak, this wine was really coming into its own 3 years after vintage.

QOTD: Nugan ‘Frasca’s Lane’ Chardonnay, Aus. last Saturday night with Dungeonness crab cakes.

    Welcome back with your tan.

I have Robert Mondavi Private Selection 2006 in the fridge right now. Not a fan.

More supermarket wines! I live in GA and can’t order from WL.com, but it’s always nice to drink along.

Very surprising that there was no Oak Monster today! Lucky you!

QOTD: It was from Wisconsin’s Wollersheim Winery, the 2006 vintage. We had it at the tasting after the tour. As my friend said, it had a “scary nose.” The taste wasn’t all that great either. I don’t drink that much Chardonnay at the moment- I keep on trying to expand and have different things.

QOTD: Can’t remember the last bottle I consumed, however, I bought a Kim Crawford “unoaked” chard last week that I’m looking forward to trying.

A side note…last night I was at a steakhouse in Louisville, Ky and had a 2002 Pirramimma Petit Verdot. It was absolutely fabulous. Incredibly unique flavor that got me pumped for petit verdot. I thought Gary would appreciate that.

I haven’t had a Chardonnay for a while. I’m not a huge fan of whites, but I’ve been trying to expand my pal by trying some different grapes like Albarino and Gruner Veltliner. I think the last bottle of Chardonnay I had was from Evan’s Ranch (Gainey’s second label) over Christmas. So, yeah, it’s been a while.
