I’d never had a pinot gris until tonight. I am drinking a chateau ste michelle 2008 SALE wine that I got for like 8 bucks. Very sharp! I’m normally a red wine guy. :)

Nice Battle Royal today. Great to see both wines rock it out. I love me some wines from Alsace. Had a Trimbach one with some sauted sausage, potato, onions, and peppers with herbs and spice. Good easy meal that satisfies. QOTD: Sadly ive had nothing but cheap and crappy Pino (like Cavit…. yuck).

Hard to pick ever, but the Borgio Tesis I bought from WL was pretty good.

Having my first Pinot Grigio as I type. The VOGA Italia. Comes in a bottle with a plastic cap that goes over the neck, which makes it look like a huge bottle of perfume.

Little frazzante, green apples from start to finish.

Can’t remember the varietal, but it was definitely an Alsace – my dad is huge into Alsace and I can see why – very neat style there…

Too my knowledge, I have never had Pinot Gris. Still kind of a noob to the whole thing.
I did have a Pinot Grigiot though. Three Blind Moose; I really did not like it.

    Hi Dave,

I just recently discovered your show and I love it. I am one of these lurkers you sometimes talk about but I am trying to catch up to your shows *470+*!! Wow! Someday I watch 2-3, some days none. Anyhow – more to the point, I never had a Pinot Grigio before but I am planning on trying one in the next few days. We drink a lot of wine at home but mostly red since it is what we prefer. One small request Dave: what do you think about home wine making in general and using kits in particular? I realise they are not that good for your business but beyond that? If there is anything to say about it, it would be nice if you could do a show on this at some point. I recently started making some and I actually have a few batches going, none of which is yet ready to drink but we’ll see… Great show Dave – keep’em coming.

QOTD: I’ve never had a Pinot Gris. I think I had a sip of an Italian Pinot Grigio, but it was probably crap.

Zind Humbrecht Pinot Gris (I forget the vintage, like I always do!). Amazing wine though, talk about residual sugar. Probably in the top ten wines I’ve ever tasted, red and white.

Pinot Gris Princes Abbés 2004 from Schlumberger. An absolutely top place to visit if you’re doing a wine tour of Alsace. Nice website too.

QOTD: I had a 2000 Trimbach Pinot Gris that was outstanding.

Can’t say I remember having a Pinot Gris… I guess if it was that long ago and/or not worth remembering I’ll have to count it as not having had one. Sorry to say!

Yes, the white wine weather is fast approaching for some, but I’ll stick to red, maybe I’ll just knock it down a notch to Pinot Noir…

Can’t say I have had one in recent memory Gary! Good head-to-head today.

QOTD: I have to say the Trimbach Pinot Gris is quite delicious

Eola Hills is my most recent favorite Pinot Gris, although I really liked King Estate. Both Oregon, of course.

great battle, and nicely done show. if aj was there you should have gotten him to say hi or taste some wine!

QOTD: My favorite Pinot Gris is from Handley in Anderson Valley. It is definitely more a the fruit forward style, but still nice acidity, and just so freakin easy to drink.

    Great head to head!

QOTD: I haven’t drank that much pinot gris/pinot grigio, but I do like the 2006 J Pinot Gris.

QOTD: I’ve never had pinot gris before, but I have had pinot grigio a couple times. They were mostly your average pinot grigio, but not poorly made either. I can’t remember the producers off the top of my head, mostly because they didn’t surprise me, but they were solid-effort type wines.
