qotd: I was playing in an intramural basketball league for my organization, the hispanic business student’s association. The president handed me the ball above the top of the key and I made a three pointer, probably the only shot I took. I just loved that feeling and the trust. I wasn’t that great but I was feeling it that day. All the other ones are Spurs/Manu Ginobili related but this isn’t NBA.com so I won’t mention them.

Not a conspiracy theorist typically…but Gary loses a lot of cred with me with what everyone is referring to as this ‘cliffhanger.’ This is not a marketing ploy with some novel Lost/Sopranos style ending…something is up.

My guess is wine #5 was a wine he shouldn’t have bagged as hard as he did…and he’s trying to think of how to reverse things.

Gary – keep in mind that your viewers expect uncensored and unbiased wine critiques. No matter who it upsets.

You lose sight of this and you’ve lost me.

I am desperate for good, inexpensive summer white wines. I will seek out Gavi.

QOTD: 1984 Torvill and Dean ice dancing to Bolero – 12 perfect 6.0 scores. I just rewatched it on UTube. Yes, ice dancing is a sport. And Scott Hamilton winning the 1084 Olympic Gold medal – what a year.

QOTD: I was at the old Yankee Stadium in the ’50’s when Mickey Mantle homered off the top of the facade in right field. I loved his home run trot around the bases.

BTW: Thanks for going out of your way to come to Austin on Tuesday. You really brought the Thunder….

Have to try the Gavi. Fave sports moment was watching Mike Tyson biting off the ear of Holyfield only because I had to watch the tape of it later that night after my girlfriend made me go to a lame wedding

Favorite sports moment was watching the Penguins win back to back Stanley Cups in the early nineties, and damn them Wings, we got close again this year.

I hope you unveil the 6 Cabernet’s on Monday, otherwise its like we all wasted 17 minutes and 8 seconds of our lives on nothing (the length of episode #477).
QOTD: The past several weeks watching my two sons play in Little League playoffs.

QOTD – Isaiah Thomas sprained ankle/superhuman fourth quarter in the first Pistons/Lakers finals back in 88, even in a losing effort…if only the current team could have borrowed a little bit of that ferocity and will.

Runner up – same series, game before when, with pre-insane Rodman guarding Magic the Bad Boys almost shut LA out in overtime. It’s been awhile so I might have the chronology wrong, but it did all happen. Those were the days.

QOTD: April 23, 1999. Fernando Tatis of the St. Louis Cardinals becomes the ONLY player in Major League Baseball history to hit TWO grand slam home runs in the SAME INNING. TATIS!!!!

QOTD: My favorite sports moment was going to the ‘06 Torino Winter Olympics with my friends, and as silly as it sounds, seeing a women’s curling event, with the U.S. and Switzerland tied until the very end and on the ice about 10 rows from where we were sitting. It was the Olympics, it really could have gone to anything and it still would have been amazing.

Whatz up with the weird Cabernet episode? I for one don’t even really care about blind tastings.
Oh, it was very exciting for me as a Boston sports fan when the Patriots won their 1st Super Bowl in 2002. I remember my daughter and I running around screaming like lunatics and sort of thanking the Gods.
Did someone say Bill Buckner? (twitching)

The thirteen-inning one game wildcard playoff that got the Rockies into the Playoffs last year! Watched it at the local Irish pub with all of my friends… we all thought it would be an early night, but EVERYONE stayed til the end. So frickin exciting! Definitely the best game of any sport that I have ever watched!!

QOTD: Not really a big sports fan but love just about any moment watching women’s beach volleyball!!!!!!! Love the uniforms and when the defense is in their stance waiting for the serve!!!!!!

Can’t wait to try a Gavi wine! Gonna get one tomorrow!!!

Okay, at the risk of sounding like one of those old farts that we all know about, I’ll admit that I watched Don Larsen pitch a perfect game (on TV) in the 1956 World Series. I had stayed home from school, and about the 6th inning, the announcers were starting to talk about how, still, no one had gotten on base. Even though I was young, when it was over, I realized the significance of witnessing something that had never been seen before––a perfect game in the World Series.
