QOTD : tough – got to be out of Steve Larkham’s injury time field goal for a last ditch win Australia V South Africa in the 1999 Rugby World Cup, or the famous 1999 Cricket World Cup : Australia beat South Africa with 2 balls left in the super sixes to go through to the semi, where they meet South Africa again, and tie to go through to the final where they easily beat pakistan – what a great year !

So now we have to wait until Monday? This has turned into a bad parody of “Who shot J.R..” I’m outta here until GV gets back to his roots.

QOTD: In the 6th grade I caught my very first outfield fly ball. I was scared, so I closed my eyes and put my glove up in the air… and smack the ball landed in my glove.

Favorite moment: hitting a buzzer-beater to win a rec league game my freshman year of high school. Old buddies of mine who were on the other team still bring it up every time they see me. Funny thing was, I never saw the shot drop, because I was busy crying for the foul (and I *was* fouled, darn it).

What’s up with the Fathers’ Day promo? I forwarded my receipt, am I supposed to get some confirmation? Do I just wait 6-8 weeks and hope for the best, like we used to do with all those toys you could get by sending in Cheerios box tops?

Wow, talk about a coincidence, I went to my favorite little Sicilian restaurant last night and they had the Villa Sparina on the menu. After watching this video blog just a couple hours earlier, I had to get the wine despite the high price ($45 – yikes). I drank it while having grilled asparagus with duck egg for my starter and a grilled octopus with chickpeas for my main and I have to say it paired up pretty nicely.

I personally feel this is more of a food wine and not a sipping wine. When I drank it alone I didn’t get the “zippyness” that Gary did. I also thought the “asphalt” thing was a bit too strong – I got honey with a hunk of tar in it. If I was just going to drink wine alone I’d prefer something else I think. But it was beautiful with food. And it was interesting enough that I want to track down other Gavis to try.

Amateur- Local Highschool Hockey Rivalry Westmont vs McCort state playoffs ‘98; 8000+ in hometown attendance! Westy emerged victorious, one of the rowdies student sections ever! I was getting in old ladies faces and tellin em how it is! Watching my brother raise his helmut and skating off the ice after laying it all out there is forever engraved in my heart.

I have tried Peidmont area wines but no Gavi. Will check it out.

QOTD: 1994 Florida State vs. Florida, 31-31 tie after FSU being down 31-3 in the 4th Quarter. I have never heard a crowd louder. It was a win in my book.

Around seven years ago, I joined a group of broken down ball players who decided to barnstorm Cuba for two weeks.
My memory is batting against a Cuban National pitcher in complete uniform, stroking a single off him inside Habana National Stadium.
Afterwords, we enjoyed dinner with Omar Linares, perhaps the Brooks Robinson of Cuba. Salud!

QOTD: In the first grade I was on the tee-ball team. Well, during a practice I hit the ball unfortunately – yet directly – into the hands of the boy I liked, making me ‘out’… and I was so embarassed because everyone knew, and made a joke like I did that on purpose. And the boy’s fatehr was the coach of our team, too. It was mortifying at the time, but I really cherish that memory because its so cute!

#2 (even though hockey sucks) is the 1980 Hockey Team beating the USSR. Do you believe in miracles? YES!

QOTD: Kelvin Hayden, in for an injured Nick Harper, intercepts Rex Grossman’s pass with 5 minutes left and returns it for a touchdown, virtually sealing the Colt’s victory in Super Bowl XLI! Oh, and any time Bob Sanders lays somebody out. It’s a thing of beauty!

As for Gavi, it is one of the few Italian whites that I have not had. I will definitely be getting some for the summer, though! Congrats on another great show!

Nice episode. I’ve had the Villa Spirina (not the 2006 though) and like it quite a bit.

QOTD: My favorite sports moment? As a participant, it was getting a walk-off RBI single in the play-offs to advance to the finals a couple of years ago. As a spectator, it was early September of 1995 when the Cleveland Indians clinched the AL Central title to get back to the post-season for the first time in 41 years. Now they still have to actually win a World Series!!! :-)

QOTD: I had a really great time in my last year of Babe Ruth Baseball (17 years old). It wasn’t if I would hit the ball it was where I would hit it, the gaps, etc. In one game I hit a double and a home run in the first inning (we had a 17 point lead in the first inning). Our team destroyed the competition and I had the second best average in the league (off by one at bat as it turned out). That said, my favorite memory in sports was my daughter’s AYSO soccer experience last year.

My favorite moment has to be D’Wade and the Heat winning it all…Go Heat!!..but the most memorable was watching the clips of that autistic kid get ridonculously hot from behind the three point line he must of hit like 100 three pointers in a row…that was something.

    Monday will come..
