Wow, I'm glad I randomly stumbled upon this episode. In my short-lived time with Wine Library TV, I've never seen Gary as excited about a wine as the Martinetti Gavi on this show. Too bad it doesn't seem readily available!

Good show. I need to check out more whites from Italy other than Prosecco and Asti. Thanks for the tips. QOTD: 2005 Seahawks going to the Super Bowl. Yes, they lost but other than the Gonzaga Bulldogs the state of Washington is ---- for sports. It was a small flash, but at least it was a moment.

QOTD: Couple moments come to mind; 1) Michael Irvin ending his career on the turf at the Vet 2) Keith Primeau's goal in the 5th OT in the 2000 playoffs vs. the Penguins 3) The Mets choke job last summer 4) Eagles beating the Falcons in the NFC Champtionship game.

Brett Farve busting the Raiders up the day after his father's passing. I am a packers fan and that day is one of Farve's greatest.

QOTD: My second-grade son (at the time), probably the worst player skills-wise on his basketball team last year, was playing his butt off in the final game of his final tournament. With about 30 seconds on the game clock, and with his team up by one point, he grabs a rebound, shoots, and is fouled by the other team. Being the worst shooter on his team, I'm fearing the worst. My boy steps up to the line, takes a couple of bounces, shoots, the ball hits the rim, circles around it, and drops in! Now we're looking at a tie at worst for now. But there's no way he can make two - he has never done that. Same gig - he takes dribbles the ball a couple of times, looks up, takes the shot, and swoosh! I'm nearly in tears at this point. The other teams races down the court with the ball, takes a couple of missed shots and my son rebounds again, passes it off, and the game is over. I was so proud of my son not only for making the clutch shots but more so for never giving up. I still think about this often, and whenever I see him down on himself, I always bring up this great moment in his life.

QOTD: Two actually. Both golf related. 1st was Nicklaus winning the '86 Masters and 2nd was a hole-in-one I had several years back (6-iron, 186 yds.)...

I found a selection of about 6-8 Gavi's locally... I picked up 3 different bottles for a party this weekend. I gave four options a Riesling (Schoffit '01), chard (Elderton), Sancerre (Pascal Jolivet) and the Gavi's. Its funny the Gavi went like hot cakes followed by the Sancerre. Most people started with the chard till everyone else was telling them how good the wine was. Good news was the Gavi was $10 and the Sancerre is closer to $20. Good call.

Good show - still don't like the tease with the blind tasting.
Never had a Gavi that I can recall.
I will have to give it a whirl.

Sports moments:
- Hole in one in 1988
- Scored 23 points in the town championship basketball game in a come from behind win.
- Hit a grand slam when I was 15
- Hit one out of the ballpark (315)
- doubled to left center in my first ever attempt at switch hitting
- Celtics winning the championship

Hmh, Gavi you say?

QOTD; Norway vs. Brazil in WC 1998 (soccer).
Brazil was the greatest team in the world, and guess who beat them?
