    Gary:
I hate to pile on here but I agree with the posters that the wines should have been revealed. I’m not a $10 cab drinker but the blind tasting format did get my interest.

I would have said on Monday that the W.L. Private label cab was inadvertently included in the tasting and it is W.L.’s policy not to include tasting comments about it. You could have said that “it did very well in the tasting”, then you could mention what the other wines were, in order of preference. This way the audience would have no idea if the W.L. cab was #1, #2 or #3. The audience would be happy. This whole scenario could have been worked out better, in my opinion.

Gary, my suggestion is to: 1) post the rest of the video showing the results, then 2) giving $1 – $2 bucks or some % of the profits to charity for each private label bottle up to the 477th bottle or whatever that is purchased just as a good gesture. You didn’t make the wine, right? The winemaker and vineyard need to get their props.

I smiled at my Tivo’d taping of MTV movie awards…the Wayne’s World revisited was great, good to see Dana Carvey.

There is no place like home . Welcome back you still owe us a show on 10 bone Cabs!
QOTD…the reference to Kim K’s back end I actually spit out a little wine with that one.

Really, Over the weekend I saw some 5th grade students from this past year and they were glad to see me.

A WL label? How do I search for it on your site? What does it look like? I’ll look for it at Bottle Barn and Costco.

Gary this is crazy. Why tell us yours came in first. If you did that isnt it the same as showing it. So just unveil the rest. We are so confused why you chose this as your explanation. Why let the cat out of the bag then? We would love to at least see the footage of you unveiling the bag and seeing that it was one of your “house” selections. Since you know it won why cant you just show that. Witnessing this reaction would be great. You dont have to unveil the rest. Guess we are just frustrated.

You know more now than I will ever know about wine, but you said indiguous and I believe it’s indigenous. I like it when people correct me…

Great to have you back Gary. I agree with the other comments. I would love to see the rest of your Cab episode and have you reveal the other wines. If your Private Label is excellent, you should be proud. I wouldn’t think your fixed the cab episode even if your private label won. Plus, you already revealed to us that it was the winner, so what’s the difference? I’m still interested to learn the 2nd & 3rd place wines. They also sounded good.

I say show us the results from the blind cab tasting! I mean it was blind and I think telling us it is a house label is all that is required for ‘full disclosure’.

    PLEASE!

Yeah, I get it, but I wonder if you could show the results and the notes (minus the house label) on Chris’ spreadsheet. You liked some under $10 cabs – I’d like to know what they were. I’d like to see the end of the show, but I have a feeling it might have gone off the rails when you saw the house label. I think your reaction to that would have been explanation enough, but I guess we’ll never know. I hope you’ll send Chris the scores, though.

Hmmm… Seems a lot of people are already beating you up over carelessly mentioning that your house brand was indeed the winner. I’ll just let that go then. :-) Hope you enjoyed your time here in Houston. I wish I could have made it to at least one of the events you were at. I live just south of The Woodlands dang it! As to Spec’s, while I enjoy shopping there, they’re really the only game in town, and they usually don’t have a lot of the wines you review on WLTV, and if they do, the price here is usually such that it’s cheaper for me to order from your store and pay the shipping then buy it locally. Not always, but quite often. Ooops…don’t print that part. Heh.

QOTD: biting into the blackened chicken breast I just seared in duck fat… Awwww yeeaaah…

QOTD: My kids all the time, so I will pick out one quote from my 3.5 year old daughter which really made me smile yesterday. When we were in the car driving home she said, “cars don’t poop because they don’t have tooshies.”

I agree with some of the other comments about redoing the blind tasting minus the private label. It’s great to have you back!

I understand what Gary was saying. It was a screw up. I’ll admit I was a little annoyed over the weekend. After hearing Gary’s explanation, I’m fine with it all. I’m glad he waited to handle it himself.

    You cannot un-ring a bell.
    You cannot un-light a match.
    You cannot un-pub a blog.
We get it, it’s not supposed to be a winelib commercial. So what was the lineup- and I’d like to see the art on your label anyway.

I live in Tulsa and sometimes none of the wines you mention are available…e.g. the Zinfandels a couple of weeks past…
the Chilean Cabs were right with my embryonic (even though 61 year old)palate.
