    Just opened the 2006 Denner Theresa after sitting on it for about 2 years. You hit the mark with the papaya! The Theresa isn’t my favorite of Denner’s wines, but this vintage is fantastic. Cheers!

    You hit the nail right on the head. I see an 89 point wine and go meh.I look around to see 90 pluses and the price on them. This has to change. I KNOW there are deals out there and yet Im not seeking them out. What gives? QOTD: Too late….. maybe next time. :)

    GV – I don’t get caought up in all of the crap related to the politics of the blind cab tasting. Life is short, be happy. Those that complain a lot probably do not have a lot of other things going on in their lives.
    I would refer to see the entire episode!

    Gary,

    I am just catching up on the shows. I went to Alaska on a cruise. Let me just say that their “wine cellar master” really sucked at the wine tasting. He actually said, “Don’t buy cheap wine.” They didn’t even decant their wines! No thunder; just some farts. I protested by showing up at the wine tasting in my sweats and sniffy-sniffed proudly.

    I really think it was awesome that you didn’t show the private label because I know you have been accused for advertising your own wine or something like that. Even though some people reflect it negatively even after you explained the situation, like you said, just put it behind you. I personally thought it was a great story because errors happen, and you are still bringing the thunder!

    Screw thunder! The next time you taste a great greeny wine, try saying, “Hulk Smash!!!” It would be better with an action figure of the Hulk there, too. I’ll buy you one if you want one.

    Also, thanks for pronouncing “Oregon” correctly. Hope to see you at Wine Library one of these days.

    Nice show, Gary. BTW, if scores aren’t important at all, why do you guys always include the scores in the sales mailings you send to me? ;-)

    QOTD: I’m way too late to answer that one.

    BTW, Denner is a nice winery in Paso Robles. My wife and I were in Paso Robles last June and we had a fantastic time. Gary is absolutely correct about the area. It is a great place to visit wineries because it is generally not crowded and definitely not as commercial and pretentious as Napa or Sonoma have generally become over the years. I recommend going to L’Aventure, Garretson, Peachy Canyon, Turley, Justin, Tablas Creek, and Four Vines, although there are many, many more. In fact, Ian from WineLib gave me great suggestions for Paso (thanks again, Ian).

    QOTD; This is the problem with having a WLTV maraton, you are too late for the latest stuff….

    This would be my pick;

    “Wines from other places”

    Short and sweet about wines from contries thats not in the spotlight;

    How about some 90+ point Viognier. There are several on the WL site. Talk about good value! And also perfect for summer!

    QOTD : I thought with Bordeaux prices going through the roof, it would be great to do a Bergerac show. But you don’t have any – Say What????

    I don’t know if y’all carry any, but what about deep south wines, maybe from Louisiana and call it a Cajun Blind Taste Test.

    Hey Gary,
    Happy to hear you’re making everyone happy and moving on. Good move.
    QOTD: I’d like to see a Burgundy intensive show – a few regions side by side. Maybe you can get Burghound to come on with you (I’d be happy to join as well!)
    So here’s my lineup, for red (a white Burgundy regional showdown would be equally fantastic)
    Michel Gros Nuits St-George 2005
    Chapuis Languettes Corton 2005
    Domaine Af Gros Vosne Romanne Aux Reas 2005
    Esmonin Estournelles St.jacques Gevrey Chambertin 2006

    Yo GeeVee, Eeeexcellent Episode!!!! Gooorgeous Vinos!!!! I know what Ya
    mean about “89 Point Phobia”. I had a girlfriend that would totally
    freak-out if the wine she was served was not a 90 Point Wine…………
    PLEEEEEEEZ, GIMME A BREAK……………….

    QOTD: Roses, da Pink Stuff………….

    QOTD: I am rather disappointed that Wine Library doesn’t carry any Becker Vineyards stuff. I would have loved to see Gary’s reaction to Becker Vineyards Viogner out of Fredericksburg, TX. I’ve also heard good things lately about Becker Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon. I realize that the Texas Hill Country isn’t Napa or the Rhone Valley, but isn’t WLTV about expanding ones palate?

    Mott under the bus? oh, you mean Mott under the table? Mott under the Tuscan sun? Hey, there is an idea… haha. I love your video blog, Gary. Hang in! Mott will save your butt every time!
    Good show, nice energy!
    I have found more 86-89 rated wines I like, than 90 plus wines. So I shy away from those high up, must be me. My palate. It’s ok, i’m comfortable with it.

    The Travisity Chard, I agree. Not me.
    QOTD: HOgue Reisling, Kupelwieser Alto Adige Pinot Grigio

    I would love to see a “bubbly” show – it’s been a while. I love drinking sparklers for no special reason. Hey, how about a 4th of July theme with “sparklers”??
