    Tomorrow is my husband’s birthday.

We’re in Philadelphia. GV will be in Philadelphia. We can’t make it to the signing. Bummer.

QOTD1 – 37?? Happy Birthday to you good sir!

QOTD2 – Sadly I will not be making it to either. First I’m not 21. Second, my moneys going towards a volunteering trip to Iceland. But believe you me, I’ll get some wine tasting done in Iceland!

QOTD1: Guess Mott is 38. (He reminds me of a friend who is 36.)
QOTD2: Won’t make it to SF. I lived there for 4 & 1/2 years but can’t visit then.
    I hope #500 is an hour-long episode.

What was that background music? A great Italian wine and no food pairing suggestions?! Partying in San Fran would be a awesome but it will have to be just a dream this year. Happy birthday! Are you 45?

    Newman

QOTD: Courtesy of Douglas Adams, the answer is 42.

QOTD2: Can’t be done, as the U.S. has an absurd drinking age.

On another note, I thought I’d let you know I bought yellotail shiraz the other day. Why oh why would I do such a thing? I had never had yellowtail or shiraz yet, and therefore it qualified as expanding my palette. I also wanted to know what all the fuss was about. I’ve got to admit I’m not a huge fan. Waaaay too much oak and vanilla.

    Happy birthday Mott!! I’ll say he’s 48.

Gotta check my work schedule but 99% sure I’ll make it. Thanks for showing the West Coast fans some love. And thanks for picking the best city in Cali to party in!!

Awesome! Thanks, GV, for doing a show based on my suggestion! I’m glad at least one of the bottles rocked it out. I had a bottle of the 01 Travaglini at Barolo in Seattle, it’s definitely a wine that needs food. Thanks again!

    Happy B-day Mott!

    QOTD – Mott happy 39th B-Day

QOTD2 – I would love to show up, but it is probably too much right now with me buying a condo in the next few months. July 9th is my b-day, so that would be a great bday gift for me.

As for Monday’s show. I requested to see the ending just because I hate not knowing how everything fared, but I don’t think anything less of you Gary V for not wanting to show it because you are definitely a straight shooter.

    Word up,

    Ryan

Herzlichen Glueckwuensch zum Geburtstag, Herr Mott!!
As to your age sir, I’m going with 29. Very diplomatic.

I thought you, or somebody, said a couple of weeks ago that Mott was 46, which would make him 47. Or maybe I’m hearing things.

QOTD II: No, I live on the East Coast and hate that flight to the West coast….

    Scott from Salt Lake

Happy B-Day Mott!! You don’t look a day over 47 and under 21.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOTTSTER!

    QOTD #1: I will guess 45?

QOTD: #2″ I may make Aug 9 since it falls on a weekend. As Brian says, bring your enthusiasm down south on the “East” coast.

P.S. I still believe the Alpha, Bucklin and Dom show would have kicked those Italian wannages.

    Gary,

Long time listener, first time caller. Good show. Love when you have some of the more “obscure” wines out there, especially when they turn out to be somewhat accessible… well except where I am at the moment (PA), thanks to some rather silly liquor laws.

Speaking of, last weekend I was in Piscataway, which I came to learn is very near The Wine Library. So I decided to check out the store on the way and stock up on a *ton* of wine (of course I did not transport this over state lines, etc. etc.). Your staff was *incredibly* helpful. I handed them a list and they found me the wine I was looking for (most of it, anyway) about 10x faster than I would have been able to do it myself.

One of the many wines on my list was the Walnut Crest cab, which you can actually get in PA but not the 750ml. Just wanted to try it, like everything else on my list, because I’ve totally been suckered into your “experience everything” mentality with wine. Much to my surprise, I got a little bit of “do you *really* want the Walnut Crest?” attitude. Yes, I’m sure; that’s why it’s on the list.

I was a little taken back by the implication that my taste in wine was a little off (even though in reality I have never tried the WC cab). I know you say you aren’t really involved in the day-to-day of Wine Library as much anymore, but as the visionary of what that place is supposed to be about, I thought you might want to know that not all the troops seem to have the message of what you’re trying to do.

If nothing else, it got me to stop lurking!

    Have it your way,

    LurkerKing

QOTD: Mott has got to be between 44 and 49 otherwise we would have heard about the significance of a 40 or 50. So ill go 47.

Damn, Italy is a confusing place wine-wise. Hard to get one’s head around all the difffereent regions and DOC DOCG IGT etc etc. Shambles.

Awesome episode though. I would love to get more understanding of Italy

    Happy birthday Mott.

    Mott is 43

Wish I could, but my trip to NYC in 2 weeks is breaking the bank.

    David Dadekian

I’m going to guess 43 years old for Mott. Happy Birthday!

QOTD: Sadly no. I’ll be out in the Bay Area the following week and going to check out the Livermore wine area.

Nice episode. Mott, Happy 48th — but you look no more than a day over 47!

Fun and wacky show! Will definitely try the Antoniolo if I can come across it.

QOTD #1: The Mott-ster is 44…he couldn’t have turned 40 while taping the Thundershow or we definately would have heard about it previously.

QOTD #2: No, there will be no sighting of me at the San Fran partay. You need to throw a party back at the Wine Library or in NYC and I will sooooo be there!

  24. June 11, 2008

    chadlp

    I am guessing 45ish.
