Thanks BB. I’m sure you feel much better now, and I can quit worrying about how your remark (probably) hurt Sara’s feelings, and go on to more positive thoughts such as what to serve with my “around the world with fish” menu tomorrow night. I bet you are actually a good person who said a dumb thing…we all do at times, so thanks for owning it.

Hey all! Sara (this show’s guest) here. Thanks so much for the (mostly positive) comments, and I’m glad you enjoyed the show! I had SUCH a blast with Gary, it was just the greatest, and I’ll never forget it. Also big ups to those who came out to show support at Cornelia’s in NYC, we had a packed house! And those of you who bought the CD, I hope you enjoy it! Hope we can have more of these conversations soon! Today I’m back in Los Angeles, and I’ll be attending the young winos meeting tonight, and then in the coming weeks cooking some food that will go with the wines I bought at Wine Library!

QOTD: To answer my own question, of COURSE I’ve learned from Gary to try new wines all the time, and I ADORE doing so. But for the question, of course my go-to white is the Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc (whatever is the current vintage, ‘o6 was awesome and now ‘07 is bangin’). For reds it gets a little different. I have to say I love Concha Y Toro’s Don Melchor and any and all of Liparita’s cabernets.

P.S. Gary let me taste some other wines behind the scenes when I was there, including a $500 bottle of Chateau Lafite that he’d opened for a bigwig previously taped guest who’s coming up, and he wouldn’t tell me who it is. Holy moly! And, inexperienced as I am, I found it good, but not amazing. My fiance sisn’t like it at all (go figure, we’re plebians). Give me my Don Melchor any day. Gary told me to give my palate a couple of years. :) In person, Gary is everything he seems, genuine, sweet, generous, fun…I love him even more now that I met him.

Mea culpa for my insensitive comment about Sara. As punishement I have imposed a 30 day banishment on myself from viewing any Wine Library episodes. I will also drink nothing but 2 buck chuck this weekend.

QOTD: My favorite wine of the moment is Twin Vines Vinho Verde, 2007 vintage, from Portugal. I’ve even podcasted about it tonight, on Cubs Out Loud! Episode 22. (http://cubsoutloud.com/) It’s very inexpensive, and it’s available at my local supermarket. It starts out with Granny Smith apple, moves through starfruit, peach, and kiwifruit, and is delightfully frisante, such that it’s just plain fun.

Great show. Sorry, but wasn’t going to comment until I read the lame statement by BB. Seriously, have some class. Sara was a great guest and you are obviously a loser.

Hey “BB,” You have got to be kidding me. We don’t talk like that here in Vaynerland. We spread the love, we don’t call out stupid remarks like that. You know you know better. Please apologize, or at the least, quit doing things like that.

Quite the entertaining co-host. I really want to try that Astrale. Unfortunately I bought a lovely 02′ Astrale E Terra Syrah a couple of weeks ago, only to forget it in my friends Honda. Two 92 degree days later my friends backseat pocket was painted a brilliant crimson, and I was out 25 bones.

QOTD: To everything turn turn turn……

QOTD: if I had the money (and could actually buy enough of the wine, or at least move from the waiting list to getting actual allotments), I’d be drinking Cayuse Cailloux syrah.

Just getting caught up on my WLTV viewing, after spending a few days on the road. Very fun show — it was good to put a face to Sara’s voice. :)

Nice Cisco shout out. Wouldn’t that be a show to have Gary drink some bum wines? What would the over under be on him throwing up? Great show. I can’t believe after a year she can taste all those flavors, great palate training Sara.

Sara is right on point with the Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc! I tried it in May while out of town for work on night with dinner. I was BLOWN AWAY by this unique tasting wine!
