Oh forgot…If you have the chance, try a newer NJ winery – Cava Winery. Surprisingly good reds. Seriously. No, really.

Holy Shiz. My wife and I went to MD circa 1995 and stopped by Basignani on Robert Parker’s suggestion and were blown away by their Cabernet Sauvignon. It was unfiltered, lots of sediment, and tasted like a grilled Porto Bello mushroom and we loved it. So I was disappointed to hear the 2005 was…sucky.
The Linden tastes like a CAVE? Laughed out loud. Lots of love.

Hey Gary, how about a wine from the littlest state with the OLDEST vineyard in New England, Sakonnet Vineyards (http://www.sakonnetwine.com). They produce some interesting varieties and it would be interesting to see what you think about the Ocean State’s offerings! Love the show as usual and I’m pretty upset I’ve missed every opportunity for a 4th Generation EVERY TIME, including BOSTON!

This was just fanastic… while the prices are out of my league, I’m pumed to see that VA and PA can Rock the House, Big Time!

QOTD: I’m waiting for an icewine show, so I can recommend Ohio wines (the rest of Ohio’s wines are iffy at best.. ;-)

Can you recommend a good dirty New Jersey “sweatshirt” to go with the Maryland “sweatpants?” Maybe some limburger cheese for a pairing??? I lived in Maryland for 8 years was was hoping so badly that you would find something I could suprise other wine enthusiasts with. Maybe next time.

Ever tried any Colorado wines? Visiting the wineries would be a pain (they’re all on the west side of the state and I’m here in Denver) but the local wine shop does have a small CO section. I’m curious what 4000+ ft of altitude does to grapes and the wine made from them.

I was poking around wine topics in wikipedia this weekend (where’d that 4 hours go?) and hit Missouri and found that before prohibition it was one of if not the top wine producing state in the US. My parents just bought some property near the Arkansas border and I’m wondering if there’s any good MO or Ozark appellation (it’s an official AVA) wines out there.

I’m from Southeast PA, but have never been a big fan of Chaddsford. I have been to another winery near Chaddsford called Va La Vineyards in Avondale, PA. URL is http://www.valavineyards.com/index.html. They have a very fun and off-kilter sense of humor and make many wines from grapes I’ve never heard of. They also make a lot of their wines in micro-quantities of 20-250 cases. I’ve have a nebbiolo and something else I can’t remember. One thing I can say is that these are NOT your typical wine shop or state store wines.

Thanks for the birthday and anniversary shout out. Yes, I kicked Paul’s butt for telling my age. . . no not really. By the way, we recently had a really good Nebbiolo from the Baja peninsula at a local restaurant. Sorry, can’t remember the name. Watch for black rasPberries, coming soon.

Hi Gary. Great episode. Thanks for wearing the @doyoutweet shirt. We’re hoping to launch the site by next week. Also, thanks for all the great comments from all the commenters on the episode website. Check out http://www.doyoutweet.com for t-shirts for all of those who asked.

Great to see other states releasing quality wines. Can’t wait to see what the future is like.

Loved Mott’s reaction to the Petit Verdot and especially the funkified Maryland Wine. Visited Virginia wineries and a festival a few years ago. Many of the wines we tasted “rocked”.

QOTD: Maybe it’s like No man is a hero in his own home: No wine is a star in its’ own state. I hear much talk that NM wine are coming into their own. Even the much (and unjustly) maligned Scott of Gruet is recommending some NM wines other than Gruet. We’ll find a nice wine for you someday. Meanwhile I’m looking at South America and Spain and Oklahoma.

Was supposed to go to Maryland for a wine tasting this year. Now I’m kinda glad I couldn’t make it.

QOTD: You’ve had my favorite NYS wine maker’s wines on the show (NY versus Washington – Herman Weimer representing the empire state.

Did you ever try the Virginia Albariño I left for you this past January?
I have been a huge fan of Albariño since I visited Spain in 1994. A number of years ago I was at a Spanish tapa’s bar in Washington DC and they were serving a Virginia made Albariño from a winery called Chrysalis that I thought was pretty good. Since there are not too many folks in the USA that grow Albariño, and especially on the east coast, I left you a bottle of a 2006 Chrysalis Albariño (you were not in that day) hoping you would review it on your thunder show or at least send me a note on what you thought. Since the wine cost me a little over $20 I am a bit disappointed that you have not commented on the wine. What gives? On another note, Linden is a good winery and represents Virginia well

    Hey Gary (and or Chris),

Gotta tell you–it’s pronounced Chadds (space) Ford winery. The wine is made about 10 minutes from where I go to school (Go West Chester Rams!) in Chadds Ford, PA. It’s sold all over local wine shops and it is excellent. They make excellent whites as well and their prices are quite reasonable.

    Just thought I’d drop you a line…
