    GV,

Love the other 46 concept. It was great seeing you in Seattle. I have had a different MD Cab and it didn’t quite work for me. We’ll see what happens. I agree that ID is on its way!

Walked out the France aisle and picked up a wine from NC and a blueberry wine from Jersey.
Not a Proust cartharsis after imbibing, but a good experience. Thanks Gary.

Gary, have to thank you for expanding our wine knowledge. Now I do understand that it is imperative for us, wine lovers, to try different wines for all over and give the wine world a chance.

    Thanks…

i really enjoyed barboursville’s wines in VA, and even the horton cabernet franc. great deal for 8 bux. you just have to get over the plastic cork at horton though.

I no longer live there, but there are several vineyards in Southern Illinois that i used to go to with friends. I’m no aficionado, but I liked their wines.

My husband and I checked out a few PA wineries within an hour’s radius of our home in Western PA a couple of years ago and came away with one thought:
EEEEEUUUUUWWWWW!!! Couldn’t find one wine that didn’t taste like formaldehyde. So I guess it depends on the “WHERE” in PA??

Heading to a couple Ohio wineries (Debonne, Grand River) on the 4th with family—brother-in-law lives in the vicinity (and does a good job making his own wine from local varietals). We’ve been to many along the “trail” in and around Geauga County (most recently Laurello—a bit pricey for most I liked). Quality is all over the map with these Ohio wines, but we love to visit the wineries periodically for the comaraderie.

What am I waiting for? How ’bout sub-90 degree temps??? Here’s my QOTD: what do you want w/a cooked bottle of NC wine anyway? ;) Seriously though, I’ve quit shipping for the summer after receiving my second shipment of heat-damaged wine, but would LOVE to send you some Shelton or Childress when it cools a bit, so stay tuned!

QOTD: I’m in CA now, but I’m gonna try to contact one of the wineries in my home state of RI (maybe Newport Vineyards or Sakonnet Vineyards) to try to show you what Little Rhody can do!

Baja Mexico cabs are great QPR but the northern neck of Virginia is the shizzie for great stateside wine outside Napa, Ingleside makes some awesome Bordeaux blends and Cab Francs for around $25 as well as some lower priced crowd pleasing Kool aid stuff. I live in NC, home of the Scuppernong grape once upon a time made famous by The Virginia Dare winery of Ontario California. I would proudly send you a bottle of NC wine if I could find one that wasn’t literally shizzie like ol’ Maryland there.

It is nice to see you trying wines from all over the country but I have to hope that the wine you tried from my hometown of MD (try lake linganore vineyard) isn’t the best we have to offer.

Great idea with trying all the different states, and lets keep it going until show 500.

Try Firelands winery in Ohio. We had their Gewurztraminer and liked it a lot. It was reccomended at a local wine shop. We haven’t tried their other wines, though.
