Favorite food and wine pairing, Harbourne english blue goats cheese with a 2004 peller estates cabernet franc ice wine. i hosted a wine and cheese night last month and everyone is still raving about it! I’m pretty sure i’ll never get the opertunity to try this again, and alot of people in the world never will. I’m glad i have the oppertunity and if any of you do, dive on it. bout £50 for the ice wine, if you can get it. And the cheese is about £8 per 100g, if your in the uk. Wiered pairing but the flavours are unreal, i challenge you to beat it. If I ever manage to get the 2 in the room together again, the invite is there for you Gary, its emotional.

QOTD: lots of choices for me so this is up in the air. Maybe braised beef short ribs with red wine sauce served with a cab. Either that or Port and flourless choclate cake.

man… i might have to branch out and go with the albarino and crab cakes i had a few days ago. or we could keep it solid with a spicy chilean syrah and a burger.

important note: “laser tag acidity” just became my favorite wine descriptor of all time.
also, how about a little bit of love for the diversity of slang for American currency? bones are nice, but let’s hear about some rhones for under 20 clams. maybe saving some greenbacks.

Good show. The first bulk wine purchase I made (more than 6 bottles) was a Sancerre from Henri Bourgeois. It was really good and I have been hooked since.

All time favorite food and wine pairing:

Scallops and a Premier Cru from Puligny Montrachet

OK, not a food and wine pairing but a wine pairing nonetheless — port and cigars. If I have to pick a food then port and chocolate (dark chocolate).

I like the little history lesson on Sancerre. I know you’ve done a couple shows in Sancerre in the past, but I don’t remember hearing the factoids in those. Good stuff

QOTD: Pizza (supreme) and Zinfandel… sorry sangiovese and barbera :-/

Holy, holy sht Gary — and Logan — props for the Lil Wayne drop. (!!!)
I’m a big weezy/dirty south fan, wine drinker in the bay area (SF), and a recent convert to the Vaynershow (about 3 episodes in, thx to iTunes front page billing)… and love the enthusiasm and energy (smurf crashing, GI Joe “dirt sniffy”, Macho man chalk & oak monster blasts) of each episode. Wow. I’ve got a lot of catching up to do.

    QOTD:
It may sound weird, but my all time favourite food pairing (and this goes back to when I started drinking wine and we used to have wine parties-1990’s) would be: Oven baked bread (country style) + a Bordeaux or Marques de Riscal + semi-sweet or dark chocolate (usually a Lindt or Michel Cluizel) with -and this is the weird part- Prosciutto and chipotle strawberry jam.

Cool episode Gary, the yellow wristband is nice.
QOTD: I don’t go too complex when I cook (being a dude living alone should account for that), but recently been enjoying steak tips and sauteed mushrooms and white onion with a splash of worcestershire sauce and a healthy dose of red wine, and of course accompanied with the same wine used for cooking. Enjoyed a bold Napa Zinfandel (Napa Cellars 2005) with my little recipe a few days ago, and tonight an Argentinian Malbec with the left over beef I had frozen, same thing, and it’s exquisite for me.
Of course, though, how can you say anything bad about pizza and a Chianto Classico (^_^;;)

holy shit Gary, gotta comment mid-episode- how cool are you for calling out Lil’ Wayne in the joint? Hell yeah, I’m a huge fan of Southern hip hop, and Lil’ Wayne is on the throne right now. People criticize, but once you get his genious you’re hooked. Still haven’t heard the QOTD so I’ll probably be commenting again.
