Good to see you show up on the thunder show WD. It’s like watching an old Laurel and Hardy rerun. Wait, that came out wrong. Laverne & Shirley? Either way, both you and Gary were great.

And kudos to you GV for another great episode.

QOTD: Usually nothing or maybe some water. If I’m tasting multiple wines I might take a quick swig of the new wine just to coat my mouth (kind of like rinsing your glass) before I formally taste a wine. Or maybe I just made that up. Seems sound in principle though. :P

ok Gary…it’s what you always ask for…first time poster! I loooooove WD (wine david for all ya’ll non-wooters). I am so happy to see ya’ll supporting each other. I hope to see more of the two of you together.

As for the QOTD…i don’t use anything, but then I’m not sophisticated by any means.

QOTD – a nice piece of bread… preferably a bite of the fleshy inside of a nice doughy bread (the crumb), not the crust. Will get you ready for the next one. No water, please.

QOTD: Nothing. Go from Light to Dark wines and you’ll be fine.

    Great show.

Bread or water for the palate, although I’ve gone through lots of wine without doing anything.

Another good guest makes for another great episode! I really dig these guests, and am always excited when I see one up on the show.

Qotd: Water and a little time if you have it.
Gary I am so stoked to tell you I met my first Vayniac besides myself randomly today at the wine store I work at, it was awesome. I was also able to spread the thunder to my brother who called me the other day to tell me he was hooked- like you say, its all about the people!

QOTD: Usually just water. Sometimes crackers or pretzels.

    Yea WOOT!
I really want one of those monkeys. I’ll have to order up with woot again soon.

I find lightly sparkling water to be a good palate cleanser, or a bit of bread if I’m really going through a big tasting and need a little something to counter all the alcohol.

Interesting show. Good to meet Dave and learn about Woot.
QOTD: I just use water when I feel I need it because that’s what’s available usually.

don’t have one for wine, but i’m always liked mountain dew for getting rid of that oily fishy smell/taste after eating a smoked fish

    QOTD- water and crackers

PS- Keep the wristband and send me the MONKEY!

Just a little bit of water does a great job, but some simple bread as well is good too.

Great show, great guest. Thanks to Cesare I’ve wooted recently! I think I’ll check out the Chase as I’m a zin lover.

My palate gets overwhelmed quickly if I’m trying to do some serious tasting, so I like to swish water and spit it out, maybe after I’ve had a water cracker.

Fun episode. I cleanse with water followed by bread..Cheers

My two favorite wine people together, great show!

    Yvette W

QQOTD: I’ve used water to cleanse my palette, so I would rank water as my way. I’ve also seen people use crackers, but I think that is better with food than wine because the next wine might taste different from the starchiness and sugar in your mouth after the cracker.

Great guest and great show!! Can I have the monkey ;) ?

  22. July 15, 2008

    Dan Manu

QOTD: Just reading a book about James Halliday (Australia’s top wine Judge/Critic/Writer)and he uses olives to cleanse the palate… He cuts them up into small pieces so he doesn’t have teat a whole one after every wine.

I usually have water or don’t cleanse at all.
