QOTD: Never had a Bordeaux that old. Do have a 98 and several 2003s waiting to be ready to drink tho. So hard for the “average” wine lover to get or afford old Bordeauxs!

    QOTD:1970 Chateau Mouton Rothschild.
Fine times fine friends……..the best Bordeaux I’ll ever have!

Very classy show. I wish you would have a tea show, maybe a one-time show like the sake show.
QOTD: I don’t think I’ve had an older Bordeaux. I was drinking Cold Duck before 1995.

Very interesting, like looking at the older wines.

QOTD – I don’t have much experience with any older wines… yet!

I just purchased some 2005 Bordeaux last week to store and drink later. However, I’ve never drank Bordeaux. I’ll being purchasing some very soon to drink right away!

look what happens when mott’s not around… haha just kidding

qotd: a little too young to have been given an opportunity to try a bordeaux older than ‘95, in fact, i don’t think i’ve had one older than 2000.

QOTD: Well I have a big none to answer with because I wasn’t drinking much wine back that far.

GV love the setting that was really cool and I think when you mix the guest and just you shows you have more energy for both. Really like the retrospective idea as well.

My message was cut in half, just like your episode! I was saying the oldest fine Bordeaux I had was 98 vintage! Cheers

Great show GV. Unfortunately I have not had the chance to have a Bordeau

Correction. I do count. It was a 1994 Lynch Bages. Seeing as how it was the only pre-95 for me, it is most certainly, without a doubt, the best I’ve had.

    Love the old world set.
I’m ‘new’ to older Bordeaux, and the oldest I’ve had of any quality is ‘98. So I don’t count. :(

Good question. In the words of Ronald Reagan ” I don’t recall”. But I would like some of that Margaux. Tree bark…yum.

I like this kind of show. Different topics than usual. As enthusiast, I have a cellar for aging wines and I am lucky enough to have tasted hundreds of older wines. Difficult to pick a favorite as many have their own personalties but I would hesitate between ‘82 Ducru (highly rated by RP) or ‘83 Pichon Baron (poorly rated by RP) One that I did not like was the ‘83 Cheval (high RP score) and we had a few bottle to test for bottle variation. So obviously my palate occasionally matches RP and occasionally misses his perceptions. It is the same with other reviewers including you. That is why I don’t trust “score” but rather the “impression” a wine makes.

Best bordeaux — 1982 Ch Margaux — simply heaven in a bottle from a great vintage. Very kindly bought for me for a birthday, which made it extra special.

    Great Show!!!

QOTD: Best Bordeaux wine prior to ‘95 vintage is a toss up between ‘82 Chat. Lafitte, ‘82 Chat. Mouton Rothschild, and ‘82 Chat. Ausone. All are birth year wines I got to enjoy on my 23rd birthday.

Man, the comments are down these days. I think people want to see you back in action at the office. I love it! Thanks for sharing the trip with us.

    QOTD: Notta.

QOTD: The only Bordeaux I’ve had from before ‘95 was the ‘82 Calon-Segur at the 3/29 WL Party. Thanks for that!

QOTD: A ‘78 Lafite ranks right up there. We opened it for friends to celebrate my 25th year of drinking and learning about wine (which happened to have started in ‘78).

Long time viewer, first time commenter.

Best bottle of old Bordeaux: 1983 Gruard Larose.

I still have an ‘83 Leoville Poyferre begging to be opened later this year, so we’ll see how that goes.

I think the oldest wine I’ve ever has is 2001!
    : (
I have my eye on a 1996 Chateau Battaille though!
(excuse me if I spelt that wrong- I’ve had a few glasses of vino!)
That’s what would be the best thing about being a wine critic- all the great things you’d have the opportunity to taste!

    QOTD: I haven’t had any…sad

Gary I have two ideas for the show:
#1 shoot in front of a green screen and lay in custom backgrounds or fancy rooms, outdoor scenes, puppies, or whatever, later.
#2 Can you do a show on budget cellaring. Or should we not bother unless we have $$$$ to throw down on remodeling our house…what about if you live in an apartment. How could someone utilize a basement?

    Thanks for the show…
