QOTD: A 1978 Les Forts de Latour, which despite having been improperly stored, remains one of the most delicious and complex wines I’ve ever had the pleasure to drink.

I remember a 1962 Ch Lafite as being a wonderful refined, feminine wine.
A Ch Haut Brion 1966 was great when fairly young, but a few years ago hadn’t held up so well. Oh, the memories…

I have not had many but without a doubt the best I have ever had was a 1983 Margaux (which I drank a few months ago)

I have had an 82 89 & 90 Chateau Meyney. All very different but a a great experience in educating my palate.

How about a “85 Chateau Pavie” the cork fell apart and had to be pulled out bit by bit.
The wine was great and could have lay down for two more years;it was a wonderful wine and shared with nice friends.

Right in the middle of calif. and I am happy to say I love French Wines.

1982 Chateau Cheval Blanc in a little French restaurant in Bar Harbor Maine. The deceased dad of the current owner had bought up amazing Bordeaux and the child did not know what she had. Our group drank every bottle they had left for $80 per bottle that week. We also had 1983 Ch. d’Yquem there. Amazing, never to be repeated experience. I can still taste the finish of that wine.

QOTD: 1961 Haut Brion. My brother and I went crazy and bought this bottle with one of his buddies, shared in his back yard with our wives a few years ago with grilled steak. What a day…

QOTD: Can’t say that I have gone back that far! Sounds like you had some good wines though.

Neat room for the show. You need to ID the place.

Great show! Thanks. I have been a long time collector and prefer to age my wines…especially Bordeaux, so I especially appreciate this retrospective, and look forward to many more.

QOTD: I have had many “mini” tastes (about one ounce) of hundreds of early eighteen hundred through mid nineteen hundred vintage wines from all over the world at the old Heublein, Inc. Rare Wine Tastings and Auctions in the 1970’s. However, I was so young and inexperienced at the time that I won’t count these in my answer. But I do have to count these tastings as the greatest wine learning experience of my life. Of the wines I have actually owned, a 1961 Chateau Haut Brion and a 1961 Chateau Gruaud Larose stand out as the oldest and best Bordeaux I have tasted from my own cellar. Gary, you will be happy to know that they were both tasted with my closest wine buddies.

QOTD: I’ve had the Chateau Margaux but not sure about the year. It’s one of my favorite tastings ever! Today I picked up the Margaux from Costco for $17.50. I’m crossing my fingers that it’s at least worth that much.

Just now I received my Sniffy Sniff wristband in the mail! Nice surprise..thanks WLTV!

Great episode, takes a lot of willpower to hold on to a bottle that long I feel.
QOTD: I’ve never had anything (including Bordeaux) from prior to 1995. I can’t wait to, now that I see how polished they can become!

QOTD: A lot of 1975s including Ch. Cos d’Estournel, Talbot, Léoville las Cases, Lascombes and Beychevelle. Also Ch. Latour 1983. Can’t afford any of them anymore.

This episode got me out of long time lurking!
I had an ‘83 Bordeaux the moment that I got engaged on the pier of a little lake in Wisconsin with only the Loons (birds, not people) and the ducks watching…candles and cheese and most importantly, the one I love :)
It was a couple of years ago now but I remember it warming my insides in that way I love wines to do. An amazing finish that I have yet to experience with another wine. Then again, I am sure it was the love and the wine combined!
I just wish I could remember the name of the actual Bordeaux!

QOTD: I’ve not had many, but I did have the privilege of drinking a 76 Mouton Rothschild and it was still a very good wine in spring this year.

Fantastic show! Love the room you were in – it so complimented the wine! and the candels were a nice touch, must not have taken you too long to get the replacement part – Ian is doing a great job on your travels! Can’t wait till the next time if you are able to do another ep from France!

QOTD: Really never had the opportunity to taste anything before ‘95 – but sure are interested in trying!!!

    enjoy your day!

I had a 1986 Baron De Rothchild (Kosher edition) in a double magnum. It tasted a bit bit past it’s prime but was still interesting and unique. I tasted it on passover about 4 years ago.
