Love the scotch concept. ever try Bruichladich? (scots say Brew-laddie — hmmm..)

QOTD: I think that in Jobs path of innovation and and transformation there have been many closely watching eyes, and he has been much of a teacher as well as an inspiration. And when the time is right there will be many who are capable of carrying the apple torch. There often comes a time when the sage surpasses his teacher. Yes?

Loved this episode, a great way to mix it up. I’ve slowly been getting into scotch and this was very fun to watch for me :D

as always great show. i dont think apple can survive with out steve jobs. he is the face of apple. if it wasnt for his introductions to every single new product that comes out, i dont think people would be as interested. i thought Apple Air was ridiculous when i first heard about it… that is off course until i heard steve jobs talking about it. it suddenly became the “must have” product of the month.

anyway keep your shows coming. i’d love to see a toys are us show. haha

    Chief Tootles.

I’ve been waiting on this show for a while now. Before wine I was an avid Whiskey/Whisky drinker, and still am.
    QOTD: Yes Apple will survive.
    Great show Gary.

Another way to expand my pal! You should have patched in the “scotch” clip from “Anchor Man” for this episode!

QOTD: I’m going to go against the trend on this one and say Apple tanks when Jobs leaves the company. It would be like Wine Library without Gary! It just won’t have the same heart beat.

PS- Gary I’m e-mailing you a show idea.

Big single malt fan here, and in particular the Islay malts.

Ardbeg is my favorite, and the entry-level 10yo Ardbeg is absolutely delicious. Others I’ve enjoyed: Laphroaig, Lagavulin, and Talisker. There are 2 bottles I’m still waiting for a special opportunity to open: A “Tactical” (Talisker) Old Malt Cask 22 yo 1979, and a Caol Ila 23 yo Rare Malts Selection 1978. Got those for great prices while I was at Edinburgh several years ago. I was very tempted to get the Ardbeg “Lord of the Isles” when I was there, but I guess it was just too much money for me. Also got some Oban and Lagavulin Distiller’s Editions that I haven’t gotten around to trying yet too.

Highland Park and The Macallan I like too.

Apple will survive after Steve retires because they “borrow” most of the great ideas from Creative Labs anyhow.

McCallum has always been my favorite – the sherry barrel sweetness and smoothness –but I recently compared it to an Irish whiskey, Tyrconnell,
which to my surprise was everybit as smooth…… john

Yes Apple will survive the departure of Steve Jobs. I think he’s surrounded himself with great people,
Great show? Matt Mullenweg was charming. I think you should do a Scotch or a Beer and Cider show every couple of months just to mix things up. The Scotch show was a breath of fresh air. Well done!

Nice to see a Scotch episode. I’ve had a very nice peaty single malt called Lagavulin. Pricey but very nice with that peat moss taste. I rarely drink them though. QOTD- Yes. Steve Jobs has been fantastic for Apple and I would not use any other computer. I can edit my short films. I can record my music.. Great for Graphic Design.. Apple really is tops.
    anyway, nice episode

WOW. This was a GREAT episode! I don’t drink Scotch, but I think I’m going to give it a try now. Matt was a perfect compliment to you, Gary.

QOTD: Hard to say, but I think that Apple will always be cutting edge.

    Wine Not?

OMG, Gary, you are so freaking awesome! I can’t believe you did a scotch episode!!!! Just when I thought you were the god of all wine, now you’ve broken into the scotch world. So cool!

I must say, this episode would have been PERFECT if you had included Lagavulin in your line up which, in my opinion, is the ultimate single malt from the islands (closely followed by Caol Ila). But in any case, it totally made me want to have some scotch!

I have always heard that you should do only a minimal amount of water in your scotch….like just a sprinkle, almost. It does bring out the flavors without diluting them.

    In any case, FABULOUS SHOW!!!!!

Going on the sherry cask…….who is interested in a sherry episode? I cast my vote now!

    QOTD: Heck no.
    Great episode gary.

QOTD: No. I think we all saw that the last time he left.

ANYWAY, Scotch, yeah, AWEEEESOME! Now you’re gettin’ close to my forte. =)

This was one of the best shows I’ve seen Gary do. Matt and Gary had a very good banter and have complimentary but different energies that I feel really brought a depth. Thoroughly entertaining and a nice change. Kudos.

Great show. I love wltv every day – but today’s show made my day extra bright. It would be great if you could do more shows about it. In some ways I think scotch drinkers have a worse reputation than wine people. Show the world we aren’t all bad.

I have a couple older single malts I’d be happy to break open for you next time you are out in CA.

    Keep the awesome coming.

    DAve A

Great show again, Gary and Mott. I like blended scotch, and have tried single malts, but don’t like the horse pee taste. (sorry, but that’s my opinion) Blended like Johnny Walker Blue label is my choice. I belonged to the Scotch of the month club for 2 years, but since they are 100% single malts from very small distilleries – I gave it up. Still have one bottle from 1999!

The guest was a nice laid back guy, good to contrast Gary’s Professional Wrestling style talking. haha. Which I love!

You should get the Mad Money guy into a scotch show – he’d be a hoot!

QOTD: Steve Jobs, Larry Ellison, Bill Gates and Scott McNealy are the companies, it was their personalities, their genius (or in the case of Gates, his mother’s). As they leave, the companies will go adrift within 5 years. Within 8 years they will be like the banks, energy companies of the past 10 years dying by mis-leading CEOs. Watch this space. Buy HP, Buy IBM, ditch these other stocks! There I said it, and it is forever on the internet.
