This site is really getting lame. I feel gv’s ego showing through more than the wines. Seriously, Ohio….

QOTD: My favorite thing about Ohio.
Oh my. I grew up in Michigan. I lived in Pittsburgh. The anti-ohio sentiment runs VERY high in both those places and I have been steeped in such truth. However: My family has it’s roots in the central plains. My dear Grandma whom I love very much and am completely in awe of is originally from Mt. Victory Ohio where she lived until she got married to my grandfather (whom I didn’t have the opportunity to get to know very well, unfortunately) after the war.

Other than that: NOTHING. Ohio SUCKS.

    Go Wolverines.

Well, since I was born in Columbus, Ohio, I would have to say my relatives who’s still live there. Oh and Ohio’s fantastic football teams (both college and pro). Go Buckeyes!!

Thanks for doing Ohio! I never knew they had wineries. So I learned something new about my home state!

    Thanks Gary!

I have never been to Ohio, but in terms of sports, my favorite things are:

    OSU/MICH rivalry

    Greg Oden

    Maurice Clarett (before NFL nonsense)

my cousin who went to OSU!

The best thing about Ohio is it shares a border with Michigan, which happens to be where I live. We have some killer winery’s here in Michigan as well. I cant wait till Gary gets to them.

The best thing about Ohio is the fact that there is a town called Napoleon. Napoleon, OH. How much cooler can you get?

YES! OHIO WINE, I belive in Ohio wine I’m glad you do as well Gary.
Kinkead Ridge make very solid wines, Harmony Hills blows the big one, Harpersfield has a Chard that is so close to white Burgundy called St. Vincent. I could list like 20 more whites that rock, can’t wait to see what you got for the reds.
See you in Hudson, OH in 2 days.

QOTD:Wine, camping, and The Heart of it ALL.

Great show today. I live in Ohio, and we have a little wine festival up here at a great place called the Fraze Pavilion, so my answer to the QOTD is the Fraze Pavilion. Don’t listen to the UM grad. Ohio is more than the Buckeyes, though we love them :)

Go Ohio! Although I am partial to Virginia wines having lived here forever.

QOTD: I don’t really know anything about Ohio, but that I have lots of colleagues doing in-home tastings there!

QTD: Being a native Clevelander, there are many good things that could top anyone’s list – for Cleveland – reasonable living costs, very strong museum and arts programs, solid professional teams in baseball, football and basketball, very strong food scene, very strong parks system, outstanding medical systems (Clev, Clinic, University Hospitals, etc.),etc. For me personally, the ease in moving around town is my #1. Sure a 15 min.traffic jam gets on my nerves until I’m told that others experience that daily – including the weekends. On Friday during rush hour, I made it from the west side to the east side in a half hour … easy. A trip to a ballgame – 10 to 15 minutes for me – and I’m two cites away from Cleveland.

It really shows me how shallow people are when they make the comment in this forum – The best thing about Ohio is I’m not living there. Hey folks, we’re all on the same team – the U.S. I personally wouldn’t trash your state – I don’t know your circumstances. Maybe you live where you do because your taking care of a family member. Or maybe you want to be close to your parents in their later years. Or maybe your work forced you to move. Or a special someone. I’m a city dweller but that doesn’t mean I’d trash Oaklahoma if you said you live in the rural wilderness there. I wouldn’t trash Phoenix if you lived there, even though I’d have a hardtime handling that extreme heat. Maybe you love the heat! I don’t know what your particular whereabouts have to offer. It’s like wine, to each his own. I might love that fruity, over oaked monster where you may say it’s not your cup of tea. Don’t trash us who like that style – just leave it that you like a different style better.

Had some great wines there too, I actually judged their wine competition twice in the last 3 years. Stick with whites and the Ice Wines!
