Gary, two very popular vineyards in Northeast Ohio are Debonné and Ferrante. I personally prefer Debonné, especially their Rieslings. You should really check them out. Ohio vineyards used to be major US producers prior to the Civil War, prohibition and the growth of vineyards in California, which all led to the demise of many wineries. Ohio has a rich tradition of wine-making and really should be considered “the other-one” and not one of the other 46.

Interesting show. I like checking ut wines from the “other” states, especially as I live in one of them! Eastern Tennessee has several wineries – I’d be interested to hear your opinion(s) on them some time as well.

QOTD: I have several friends from Cincinnati so I’d have to say my favorite thing about Ohio has been going up to Cincy and hanging out with them.

I’ve been trying some Ohio wines, but mostly the Great Lakes Region. Thanks for the Ohio River Vally reviews. Can’t wait for reds!

GV – Fun show, glad you are looking at the other 46. QOTD – Ignorant of Ohio, I’d say the Ohio Turnpike and it’s stops make the once a year trip from Boston to Green Bay a bit brighter!

QOTD: Being born and raised in Ohio I have many things I like from Ohio but the best might be, Put in Bay/Kelleys Island/Surrounding areas.

Question OTD: Sandusky Ohio 6 Flags theme park, or the rock’n'roll hall of fame.

Quote OTD: “Hacksaw Jim Dougan took his extra 2×4 and shoved it in my grill”

QOTD – well, as a loyal University of Michigan graduate, I would say that there is nothing positive or favorable in the entire state of Ohio. Wines from Michigan are most certainly better. Hail to the Victors – down with the pathetic buckeyes. GO BLUE!

GaryVee, my favorite thing about OHIO is the end of ‘The Drew Carey Show’ Intro, where he says “Ohiooo hio hio hioooo”.

Good show GV, loved your energy as always, oh, and BTW this is my first time ever posting a comment about your show, I am one of those ‘lurkers’ all you had to do was ask!

QOTD: Oberlin College. Because it’s the only thing I know about in Ohio.

By the by, I bet there’s a way you can set up Mott’s camera as the webcam on your computer.

Then you could get a little lcd screen you’d use as a ticker on the bottom of the screen and answer pertinent questions on air. Then you’d get that big screen whatsisname got for campaign coverage on… what was it, msnbc? and have winepedia whishing and wooshing to the appropriate pages behind you… Just a TINY little nudge and look what your show could become!

Seriously though, keep rockin it. At the level you’re doing it now, I don’t mind the head turning, but it would probably be much better for you (and your poor neck!) if you managed to put the camera for the live show more or less at the same angle as Mott’s. You’ve been talking about changing angles for a looooooong time now…

love the Ono river valley. Beautiful!

Gary – ustream is cool. I typically can’t watch live. Wondering why you don’t place computer in front of you? Can’t imagine the side view is that good.

QOTD – The restaurant scene in Cleveland is growing by leaps and bounds. Michael Symon has made a great effort to put us on the map in that respect.

Never tried the wine from souther Ohio, but I do have a few fav’s out east in the Grand River Valley. Whites are more on the mark than the reds – it will be interesting to see that show.
