Gary,I am a new adict to your show since Itunes put it on the page.
    I am catching up !

QOTD : Chateau Guiraud, Chateau Climens and on my first Father’s day Yquem !
    Yquem and a foie gras poele…Mmmmmm !
p.s. I visited the bordeaux region last year and had a Tasting (primeurs) of Cos at 9h30 am….Guiraud also at the same time the next day was a lot easier…

QOTD:I’ve had a few, but don’t recall the names. I purchased the Vedrines from this year’s CAS and one or two from previous sales, but gave them as gifts. Not a big fan of dessert wines. Have an Austrian Kracher in the cellar and do enjoy an occasional Port.

I’ve never has a Sauteres. I will be trying one very soon.

Well, I can say I knew you when… You are getting out of touch with the daily wine drinkers. Still entertaining, but like a window at the mall – no one actually buys or dresses that way. I guess that is normal, the goal is to become a super star and not stay between “internet wonder” and “over the top has been”. Both wines unavailable?? How am I relating to this?

I have watched 400 or more shows, so don’t think me a snob, newbie, or red neck. smile.
No one has done what you have – you should be proud. What is next?

    Hmm. is this transferable?

I will continue to watch and post. Love the Cabs under $20 type shows. Love the French wines to reach to occasionally. You are reaching star-dom and your peebs can’t buy most of your wines tasted. Well, some. I could, but won’t.

QOTD: Sauternes, yes. I’ve had a few. they are good.

    thanks for the good show.

Big baller today Gary and I LIKE it!

QOTD: I don’t know which brands, but every Sauternes I’ve tried (and there have been at least 5), I’ve loved, which is very different for me, since I don’t usually like the taste of wine. I wish I could be specific, but I guess I’m working in vaugeries today.

Qotd: haven’t had one yet, I have one ready for one a buddy of mine visits with his fiance in a few weeks, she really kies the sweet dessert wines.

QOTD – Still havent had a Sauternes – mostly because the cloying sweetness on many desert wines has turned me off to the catagory – maybe I just need to have a good one to turn that corner

QOTD: That would be the first one I will have in the near future….

I have not had one that I recall, but I will surely seek one out as soon as I can! Thanks for the insight…

Hi Gary! Another great show! I was wondering how your top wines were in your book. Great show!

QOTD: Hm, I’ve bought people Sauternes for presents actually, but never tried one myself. Will have to do that soon!

Gary, I really like the idea of you tasting the wines in your book live. Great experience for those of us who have the book.

Favorite Sauternes is 2001 Château de Fargues. Great episode Gary, but go to some QPRs from Rousillon or Saumur. I am more convinced than ever that there is great wine from other regions that gives just as much pleasure.

Classy show GV…glad you contained ‘Sir GV’!

Nice, on-site tastings from the book are fantastic. The passion really came through today… and I really like the quick explanation on why we should trust our own palates’, even on a clearly fantastic desert wine.

QOTD: Haven’t had one, but I just ordered one the other day!!! I don’t roll deep enough (yet!)

Finally caught up after missing a week.

QOTD: Never had one but next time I go pick up some wine I’ll look for it.

Hrmmm, I *know* I’ve had a sauternes, but I can’t say I’ve even the slightest recollection what I’ve thought of them, which means I wasn’t super-impressed — certainly, at least, not nearly so much so as you are with the Doisy! I’ll give it another go, though, so next time I’m downtown (tomorrow, probably) it’s Israel and sauternes!

  18. August 6, 2008

QOTD: I believe I had a sauterne at a wine tasting class in 1994.

I couldn’t watch the bouncy video. I scrolled down and listened to the audio. I didn’t want to miss a show.

    The Original Marc

QOTD: Haven’t had one. What am I waiting for? I’m waiting for the one I ordered from WLTV yesterday to get here.

Odd that you compared the first wine to Patrick Ewing; from your description it sounds as though it would have actually won a championship :)

    2001 Chateau Suduiraut…one of 2 wines I’ve ever scored 100pts.

I guess I need to pick up some of those 2005 Cos at Costco for $182???

  21. August 6, 2008

    Bryan Garcia

    QOTD: Never had one.

    Love the book gary!

QOTD: I’m waiting til my 21st B-day. I’ve definitely decided that I’m going to a wine-tasting for my celebration, rather than a bar. Thanks for all the inspiration Gary, keep it up!

Hooray for the Thundershow! So inspiring. I watch your show every night and I am always inspired to try new things. I’ve never had a Sauternes. I should, I must and I will…soon.

Very nice show though unfortunately its going to be tough to find those wines after your book hit the stores. I’ve had maybe 5 of your wines from the book and it took a major effort to find those.

QOTD: I have a few in the cellar but none stand out in my mind that I would remember the name/vintage. If I find the Doisy, I will let you know.

I have a quick question for you. Since you had the ‘89 Haut Brion and were not impressed, is the ‘95 still too young? I was thinking about sharing a glass with you if it was currently worthy.

I had Yquem at a friend’s birthday party about 5 years ago. I forget the vintage, but it was young. Still great stuff.

Nice show. Planning on picking up some Doisy this week and giving it a go, perhaps with some D’Artagnan foie gras pate.
