We had a 1960 d’Yquem in the cellar where I last worked that was almost black. The owner thought it was bad, I was dubious. Then I found out about a huge vertical d’Yquem tasting I wish I was at that tasted d’Yquem’s dating back to the 1800′s. They had the 1960 too, which was also just as dark in color. They said after tasting the 1960 that they expected it to be good another 15 years. That was maybe 2 years ago.

QOTD: I would love to try some 69. I don’t have anything that old in my cellar unfortunately. I have a bottle of the 96 that I am waiting to open, here’s hoping that it is a good bottle as well as 3 bottles of the ’03 Chateau De Malle, I am gonna open those in 5 year intervals. Patience is the game right Gary!
