these shows are fun, you should get out of the office at least once a week to do it…

I want to be you….for about 30 minutes a day. Seriously, you have a very interesting life. Now if you can just perfect the transporter so you don’t have to spend half your life on airplanes it would be perfect :)

QsOTD: I want to and DO drink more, really good, inexpensive wines but it’s nice to have the more expensive for special occasions. MaryAnn

QOTD: That was actually my new year’s resolution. Less cheap ($12) wine, stop chasing the Parker 90 shirazes. Focus on $25 wine I know is good.

Go Cleveland! (But not the Browns)

QOTD — wine is for everyday, and of course Maryann!

Didnt care for the episode…(The gal didnt strike me as a Wine Educator). Chateau La Paws with Pork…I know that wine and it would kill a roast pig. It was a good effort and fun, (kinda…lol) didnt work. Football stadium thing is good and yes everbody has a different palate G.V.

Hey … you dont try you never know and you have to appeal to many people…Right??? Keep it going man….

Great show and super guest. QOTD: I’d rather drink better wine all the time. Unfortunately I can’t do that, so I drink good wine when I can, and cheaper wine the rest of the time. Since I’m a female I have no preference for Mary Ann or Ginger. I’ll just choose between Tom Cruise or Johnny Depp. Johnny Depp it is. :)

  20. August 15, 2008

    Phil G

QOTD 1 – I think maybe more of wine that is good – regardless of price. There are so many $15 bottles that are better than $30 ones. So that’s what I choose. But if I had to choose one of your answers, less of the expensive (better) wine.
    QOTD 2 – Mary Ann

This is too easy–Mary Ann with lots of low price good wine. I have no desire to even try an expensive bottle of wine.

Although I could give a squat about football, I did enjoy the video from OH. I actually thought the guest did a relatively good job, and added her flavor to the production. (Geez-Lousie……..does everybody have to be an expert?). As my palate only stretches so far, I settle for a wine that taste good, (for me), at a reasonable cost. [I am found in the $6.00 to $25.00 range, and I have no problem making my palate smile big time].

I was an Acid head in the 60’s More decent less expensive wine, got to shop for it it’s out there. And Ginger I like them a little slutty.

Wow another great show….Your on fire GV….

qotd: Both….just need to be good….Mary Ann FTW….

  27. August 15, 2008

    Robert

Nice show. QOTD: Less of more expensive wine; Mary Ann. How about a show on wine asseccories, say various decanters and the differences between them, methods to preserve a half open bottle of red for a few days (vacu-vin, etc.) and so on.

PS: Not a fan of any type of dog that will sit in a bucket.

    Wine Not?

How awesome to finally see the episode in the stadium! I caught you on U-Stream right afterward and also saw some of Noah’s video prior to taping but was wondering exactly what you drank there. Now I know! I just visited Ferrante on the way home this week and totally agree about their ice wine (their restaurant was fabulous, too). Thanks for mixing it up, as you always do!

QOTD 1: How about quality wine ALL the time, sometimes pricey, sometimes screaming value?

QOTD 2: Scrap the women….it’s the Professor FTW! The geeks run the world!!!!!

  30. August 15, 2008

    theemptyglass

I’m not digging the stadium, it seemed awkward standing and the lighting sucked. I dunno something seemed really awkward about the whole episode. But I liked the guest, Mary Anne (sp) you did a great job! Gary, let her talk a little more.

QOTD: I think this is a good question, I think we need more like these. The way I see it is that no matter how much I’m spending the probability that I will like the wine is the same. Until I know a little more about my own palate, I’m not going to risk $20 on a wine when I know I’m just as likely to like the $5 Malbec or Chenin Blanc. Plus, buying cheaper wine lets me taste more wine and hergo expanding my palette and getting to know what I like so I can read the reviews and maybe splurge on something that costs a little more.

  31. August 15, 2008

GV and Marianne, Thanks for shoting from the Stadium

    Fun road show.

QOTD 1:Less often with better wine. I fall in the $15 – $50 category and will spend up to $100 for a very special occasion. Still like to find wines with good QPR. I don’t mind a high price if the wine really “Brings the Thunder”

QOTD 2: Mary Ann & Ginger.

  33. August 15, 2008

    Ricky D

Hey, Gary, I found some Arizona made wines that I am going to send to the show, but I need to wait until the temp drops below 1,000,000 degrees, probably Oct.

  34. August 15, 2008

several points – GV, the cool climate of the Lake Erie AVA, while protective of the vines, does not, IMHO, make Ohio P.N. any more defendable. It is not. However, the wine of Wes Gerlosky at Harpersfield, which were somewhat slagged a bit by you in the past, are more often than not a delicious and remarkable paean to Alsatian and Burgundian styles and techniques. I once had a barrel sample of a Kerner he was making, and it smelled uniquely of Basil. I’ve been and ardent supporter of his for 20 years, now, since I waited tables in a fancy jazz place.
Also working against us Ohioans, is the control state status, with prices significantly higher than the national average. (Boo.)

  35. August 15, 2008

QOTD – drink more wine of better quality and flavor, regardless of price. For example, if I were a cheapskate dog pounder, I might go for one of the Pumari wines from Robert Talbott. Family owned, (but purchased grapes), from a renowned producer of legendary proportion. But much better would be Three Legged Red from Eric Dunham winery in Walla Walla. A Tribute to his rescued dog Port, it was my fave $20 bottle for several years. Money no object, I’d go for Delectus’ Dog Gone Good Napa red@ $50. Browns fans take note. and to you, Gv, I say two things. Braylon Edwards, and Kellen Winslow.

  36. August 15, 2008

    oenanist

QOTD — At this point, more wine, less $ per bottle. Most of what I drink is in the $10 range. I’ve come to like having wine with dinner, and without it something seems missing. Plus its fun to try a lot of different cheap wines and once in a while hit a decent one. Then again, I really haven’t drunk much expensive wine, so I may not know what I’m missing. It would be nice to be able to drink $15-25 wines on a regular basis, but that day is far in the future.

  37. August 15, 2008

    brorjace

Man, I love the road trip shows, so much fun! QOTD: I’m cheap, but I guess I drink less of less expensive good wine (I know thats not an answer). I also drink whiskey and beer, so I keep it mixed up.

  38. August 15, 2008

    Tooch

Right now, more wine at lower price points works for me.

  39. August 15, 2008

    RANDI

    Gary!
I love rootbeer…I like it mixed with cream soda…the best! Sarsaparilla!!:)
    Easy melons? hahaha

QOTD: Its all about quality…whichever is better! Cheap wine thats good is awesome..but if its just a lot of bad grape juice..whats the point? Expensive wine..only if you really enjoy it..otherwise, save your money!!! Quality beats price point!

    Marianne with a hint of Ginger… :)

  40. August 15, 2008

    Withnail

QOTD1: Everyday wine (less expensive; still a lot of quality stuff out there).
    QOTD2: Lovie.

  41. August 15, 2008

    Jay

QOTD: Both, but if I had to choose, more expensive (which I’m arbitrarily taking to mean higher quality – don’t hit; I know that’s not always true!…) less often.

    Oh, and, Mary Ann…….

  42. August 15, 2008

    Bill

    Fun show.

QOTD: Obviously, Mary Ann. Less expensive wine during the week, and more expensive wine on the weekends, to go with a nice Saturday night dinner. So, both. I guess expense is all relative, though.

  43. August 15, 2008

    Yvette W

QOTD: I’d rather drink less expensive wine more often because less expensive doesn’t always mean low value. Therefore, if I do this often enough, I’ll constantly be expanding my palette, finding and learning new things about different varieties of wine.

    MaryAnn.

    Another great show! Lovvvvvved it!

  44. August 15, 2008

    amgryger

QOTD: Good question. I actually got into wine when I lived in Rome and was all about inexpensive wine all the time, which carried over for a while when I returned to the states. However, lately I have found myself shifting towards a tendency to drink more expensive wine less often.

  45. August 15, 2008

    Matt W

QOTD Right now I am drinking more of the less expensive because I enjoy having wine nearly every night with dinner. However, I do occasionally buy some better wine but end up putting it in my cellar and forgetting about it. Perhaps one day I’ll go nuts and just drink all the great bottles at once that I’ve accumulated. Cheers!

  46. August 15, 2008

    Anthony L.

Very good show. I love how gary hammered the Pinot.
QOTD; Rather have more inexpensive wine
    QOTD: MaryAnn.

Gary, Great Show! I am life long OHIO resident and a Grad of the Cleveland Wine School. Maryanne Rocks!

Qotd1: Fewer bottles better wines- B2 -Barolo and Bordeaux

Qotd2: MARYANNE, is changing the wine world.
Big ups to the American Cleveland Wine School

  55. August 15, 2008

    Shawn_944

Another Great Gary! Mary Ann of course, and more cheaper wine! But if I can go with C then I would have both

  56. August 15, 2008

    ChiroGuyDC

QOTD: I’d go with more bottles of less expensive wines. We’ve clearly seen that 10-15 BONE wines can bring serious THUNDER, and with the exception of splurging every once in a while, there seems to be no need to enjoy anything more. To expand your PAL however, it would require a bit more in the price points.

Great show to the both of you!!!

  57. August 15, 2008

    Kelly Goff

Fun episode! I am looking forward to seeing the Skins whip up on your Jets this weekend…

    QOTD: More less expensive wine
and I don’t really care about Mary Ann or Ginger, although they both were hot.

QOTD: More wine, less $. No question. I’ve been quite impressed with some of the $10 – $15 bottles I’ve tried.

    Mary-Ann. Absolutely no question

qotd: Whatever is the best tasting (and won’t give me a headache with it’s high alcohol content) is the one I go for. Less is more.

  63. August 16, 2008

    A dumb Rhine king

    Awesome episode.

I like to stick to the $10-$15 bottles for everyday drinking, so if you need a more precise answer – less expensive more bottles. Only a few times a year will I go with $50-$100. I’d be more willing to pay $5 extra for local wines though, just because I’m huge on supporting the local wine market no matter where you live. I thought it was great to see Ohio’s Vidal Blanc get such a high rating.

¿And how is that even a question? Let’s pour ourselves a glass … It’s a great Summer white wine from Kansas. We’ll start with a little Mary Mair … I get a hint of perfume on the nose and see great legs. Now give it an Anne Ann … There’s tropical fruits on the attack, a very nice midpalate, and a perfect finish. I’d give it a 92+ ;)

Now try the other one. A rose from southern California. Nice legs, but wow, overwhelming Ginger on the nose, overripe fruit on the attack, a nice midpalate though, and bitter on the finish. Plus it’s oddly too cheap and too expensive at the same time. I’d give it a 74, something to have if you’re on a deserted island, but definitely nothing to write home about.

    More expensive less often.

  68. August 16, 2008

Good Show. I like this concept of doing shows in stadiums. Go Seahawks, who are going to dismantle the Bears tomorrow with former Cleveland Browns QB Charlie Frye at the helm.

QOTD: less expensive and more bottles, since I’m in college and recently started trying wines.

Gary, I was wondering in the future if you had any plans on doing a show on vinho verde wines from Portugal, which I’m starting to see pop up everywhere recently.

  69. August 16, 2008

Unfortunately I’m tending to more expensive and more often… :/

I have had a bottle of the dog wine in my rack for a year, but only because I love dogs and contribute to dog charities whenever possible. I will not trust the opinion of a Browns fan as I am a Steelers fan since birth 32 years ago :) GO STEELERS.

  71. August 16, 2008

QOTD1: QPR constant, I’ll go for the more expensive wine, less quantity higher quality every time.

  72. August 16, 2008

Good show, the puppy was very cute. QOTD – Price isn’t so much the issue as quality! I’d drink better wine MORE often!

Good show; i need a NFL spitting bucket.

The line on wine critics & reviewing dessert wines–hard to judge???? I missed the meaning here. After a few years in bottle, yeh a rating can be made; don’t think u can do them while still in barrel.
QOTD: more cheap if i could drink everyday; Ginger–i have an inffinity for red heads…

  76. August 16, 2008

    Derek

QOTD: More of less expensive. (But if I could have lots of the good stuff, I’d choose that.)
    QOTD2: Marianne!

  77. August 16, 2008

    Ohio Bruce

Fantastic show and obviously loved to see the Vaynernation learn more about northern Ohio wines. Marianne Frantz is a treasure and we enjoy trying new wines and learning at the Cleveland Wine School.

QOTD: BOTH but if I must choose, more value wines. Every day that I open a bottle with my wife, family or friends IS a special occasion!

  78. August 16, 2008

Big G, Nice Job. I really enjoy it when you have a fun guest on the Thunder Show. Ok, White castle for my palet Bites Ass! In and Out kills. That should be a question of the day.

From a technical point…lighting was bad and rip a table in front with the wines next time. I’m just say’n.

QOTD: I like to stay somewhere in the middle. But I feel like I do lean more towards the more, cheaper bottles.

  91. August 16, 2008

    Matthew Robinson

QOTD: C. Lower price, more wine with the occasional(every few months) high price wine.

  92. August 16, 2008

    B-Melt

QOTD: It really depends on the day. If its been awful, A. I need more for less.
If it’s been a really GOOD day, I great bottle for a fair price. If it’s been the worse day in recent memory, I buy expensive and then drink the hell out of it.

Watching Olympic trampolining right now. Who does that?

  93. August 16, 2008

    Robin C

QOTD: more expensive, if the expense correlates with quality, less often. There needs to be a new term for “value” wines – the word sends chills up my spine – in anticipation of a low-quality wine. Maybe “under-priced” wines.
Both Mary Ann and Ginger rubbed me the wrong way; but Marianne, I would like to get to know. Great blog.
It’s kind of thrilling to think that it was my idea to film winelibrary.com at football stadiums. I’m glad it’s going so well.

  94. August 16, 2008

    QOTD: Mid price, everyday.
    QOTD2: Mary Ann

  95. August 16, 2008

    Leif erik Sundstrom

QOTD : I think price has less to do with it, i will manipulate the question in my answer: I would rather have more quality wine less often than have mediocre wine more often. get it?

    QOTD2 : Uuuuuuuhhhhh MaryAnn, duh

  96. August 16, 2008

Nice to see the Brown’s Stadium again. Great show! loads of energy, and MaryAnn was a good match energy level! Her oak monster was way cute!

QOTD: more often, less expensive. actually more often and more expense. smile.
    QOTD: Ginger. All day long.

I would like to see GV have some humble pie. The woman in today’s show knows her stuff. Let them say it how it is instead of dominating the conversation. But that is only one persons opinion

I enjoyed the show. Good chemistry between you two.
QOTD: I drink less expensive more often. But I keep looking for the thunder at my grocery store and wal-mart.
QOTD #2: I like your response PurpleTooth…and I totally agree on your choice…JD

QOTD: A.) More UNIQUE and INTERESTING and OBSCURE and less often
B.) Totally Mary-Ann… every time. No contest.

Gary, do you have jock itch or something? What’s up with all the crotch grabbage?

  112. August 17, 2008

    Dan-o

Enjoyed the show, a guest, a different venue.
QOTD 1 – I would prefer to drink less wine with higher quality.
QOTD 2 – I prefer MaryAnn, but if I had a second choice – it would be both at one time.

  113. August 17, 2008

    jesseeley

QOTD 1- Of course i’d love to do C but tend to be more of a budget wine drinker (in larger volumes).

    QOTD- Mary Ann!

QOTD 1: Wife says More expensive less often. I say forget price, high quality every day!!!

QOTD 2: Wife has no preference. I say they’re both there for a reason. Can’t we have both???

Gary… WTH? Cleveland is one of the first stadiums you visit? Let us know when you’d like to experience some real thunder and come to the burgh. Heinz field awaits. In fact, maybe you could do a Heinz tasting… You know, there are 57 varieties!

  116. August 17, 2008

    Barrelmonkey

QOTD: More expensive, less often. As long as I get to taste at least 1 wine per week, I can get by. Less than that and I start to get really antsy.

  117. August 17, 2008

    Dominus

Gosh, I love Cleveland, OH but she was absolutely annoying in regards to thinking she knows something about wine but comes across quite pompous. On top of that, a BERNIE KOSAR jersey! She could have worn a Vinny Testaverde jersey wine with the G-Man!

QOTD: Less often with great wines and Mary Ann. No question. Hands down. Pluueeezze,

And when you go to Lucas Oil stadium, you better email me to join you!!!!

    Cheers!

Good show! That was fun. But, it should be said that the Cote Du Bone wines from Rosenblum are the absolute bottom of the barrel – they go for lowest common denominator with those as they are for charity.

QOTD: I would rather drink good wine less often, than drink bad wine more often -but as we all know “expensive” does NOT always mean good, nor does “less expensive” always mean bad. So, I have answered that question in a way that suits me.

    QOTD II: Mary Anne.

  119. August 18, 2008

    Andy

Nice to see Cleveland stadium from a different view.
What a nice variety of wine and thank you for the info.
    QOTD— Better quality less often
    QOTD— MaryAnn

  120. August 18, 2008

    Chris Hansen

I wonder what kind of wines Herman Kosar drinks?

QOTD: Almost unanswerable. I just want good wine. Thus, the QPR!

    QOTD2: Mary Ann

Fake Mott wasn’t good. I hope he doesn’t get his own t-shirt.

  121. August 18, 2008

    Steve

Someone tell Gary to stop grabbing himself aka “adjusting” while tasting wine… its hurting my feelings.

  122. August 18, 2008

    CarolynS

Hey Gary – Great show!!! It was just as fun to watch on WLTV as it was ‘live in person’ (though the lighting was a bit better in person). Marianne has done a TON for the wine community here, and it continues to grow by leaps and bounds. (pompous? hardly!!!)

Thanks for coming out and bringing the thunder the Cleveland area – it was a great couple days! Looking forward to your return!

    QOTD#1 – both – I LOVE finding great deals!
QOTD#2 – given my gender, I’ll go with the professor!

  123. August 18, 2008

    Alfredhayes

Question OTD 1: Assuming thunder factor is involved (eg. all wines bring thunder) I would drink fewer expensive bottles.

    Quesion OTD 2: Mary-anne.

    Quote OTD: Apricots for days…

Nice show. That desert wine looks nice.

  125. August 18, 2008

    QOTD #2: Mary Ann, Totally!

    Great Show.

Fewer bottles, getting tired of cheap and less interesting wine. Also, Ginger!!! Ken

  130. August 18, 2008

    ChezJim

Good show. Ohio finally had a winner. I thought your guest did a fine job.

QOTD1: I would always want better wines less often. But as many have said, price does not always equal quality.

    QOTD2: Always Mary Ann.

  131. August 18, 2008

    Jessica

    Hey Gary-

Awesome meeting you at the stadium. It was a great show- Go CLEVELAND! To bad the lighting wasn’t better. You and Marianne were great together- soo much energy!!! You must come back and check out the 2009 Cleveland International Wine Show.

    Cheers!

FYI- I’m still thinking the “scratch and sniff” sniffy sniff wristband is the way to go!

PS. QOTD#1- whatever I’m in the mood for–
QOTD #2- neither, give me skipper! LOL

  132. August 18, 2008

GV: Exciting show with a different location.
QOTD: I like to think of the QPR… If I can find a good wine for a good price.. I roll with it! I trust my PAL to lead the way!

  133. August 18, 2008

Qotd: fewer bottles of better quality, ginger

  134. August 18, 2008

    Marianne Frantz

Wow. Thanks for the noise. How much fun was this? I really enjoyed reading the comments on this site and loved working with Gary. While not all comments were correct (i.e. Dominus had his opinion but not his facts) they all made me LOL. Anyone intersted in learning about wine education programs in the USA – lemme know. I have been in wine education in Cleveland, NYC and Chicago for years and would love to share any and all info I have about programs around the country. The more you know about wine the more you know you nothing about wine and thats the cool part…in some strange fashion.

  135. August 18, 2008

    VCWCsteeler

Looking forward to the show from Heinz Field.

    1) More wine – good, bad, who cares.

    2) Marianne

I just wish I had more of Karl Spengler’s wine from the Valley City Wine Club!

  136. August 18, 2008

    Nancy

Did I miss something here? Are all these wines made from Ohio grapes? If not? Why bother to review them? I thought the show was supposed to be about Ohio wines! Any wine maker can make wines from out of state fruit. It wasn’t clear to me why we are reviewing wines made from out of state fruit,

  137. August 18, 2008

    The Oak Monster

Nancy, I agree. Gary should have done one of the Ohio wine tastings in the stadium of the mistake by the lake. I gave Kindead Ridge its just due in a comment in after the Ohio wine tastings. You guys are the only Ohio wines that I have tasted that are solid.

  138. August 18, 2008

    RnD

Love the stadium show venues… keep it up.

QOTD 1 – more wine, better quality, price will work its way out.
QOTD 2 – definitely Mary Ann

  139. August 19, 2008

    EP27

I am a little confused on who the chick with Gary is. Did I miss her introduction on the show?

I have a hard time with the local wine shows. I’m from Texas and I cringe when Gary has reviewed Texas wine.

  140. August 19, 2008

    Pampie

More wine. There are some real good less expensive wines out there and besides,it is part of my meals.

  141. August 19, 2008

    Carlitos

QOTD. I think it has already been said price is not the same as quality. So I’ll take some more high quality low price wines from the Old World, thank you!

  142. August 19, 2008

    Marianne Frantz

Nancy – Gary already did Ohio whites and Ohio reds before he came to Cleveland. So while we tasted two Ohio wines – the other two were simply Dog Pound Wines in honor of Browns fans…they had nothing to do with Ohio wines.

  143. August 19, 2008

    Lawrence Leichtman

Cute show. thanks for the heads up on the desert wine, Chateau Le Paws was at the Rosenblum tasting room in Healdsburg and I didn’t like it there. Ginger for me. Better quality and less wine as well.

  144. August 20, 2008

    Dr. Lance

QOTD #1: I agree with everyone who said more wines with good QPR.
QTD #2: Mary Ann when I was a kid, but definitely Ginger now.

  145. August 20, 2008

    J Crazy

    definitely better quality more often.

    Mary Ann. Ginger was busted.

  146. August 20, 2008

    Dr. Lance

I am informed that my initial comment is “awaiting moderation.” Why? Just because I picked Ginger over May Ann? Haha. Oh well….

  147. August 20, 2008

    Tria

    Easy, Mary Ann

QOTD #1 I love the less expensive wines from the younger/newer more passionate vintners. Anybody can buy an expensive wine, but hunting for
that new, less well known is always a coup
QOTD #2 Mary Ann is from the Midwest, but she’s smart and knows how to get
the the Ginger level of glamour when she needs to and not get all
breathie. Can Ginger get to the Mary Ann level…don’t think so.

  148. August 20, 2008

    VinoVixen

interesting show….not sure of who was showing who up…or trying…

QOTD:1 I want to drink great wine as much as I can but that does not necessarily mean it neeeds to be more expensive! The goal would be for it not to be a lot of bones!

  149. August 20, 2008

    Jayhitek

    QOTD: Both
    QOTD2: MaryAnne

  150. August 20, 2008

    Jimmy T

QOTD: Both for sure which is probably cheating so I will go with cheaper wine at lower price. But that’s why we have Gary, to help us find GrEAT Cheap WIne!!!!

    Awesome show!

  151. August 20, 2008

    wannaBconnoisseur

Fun show! Sorry you had to spend time in the Browns stadium GV…..Go Bengals!

    Q1-Fewer bottles, better wine.
    Q2-Ginger

  152. August 20, 2008

    SoCal

QOTD: less wine more quality is what I am about

  153. August 20, 2008

    Colin Komar

Awesome show. How many stadiums does that make it now?

QOTD #1: I would drink more expensive less often. Since I am a poor Graduate Student with a crap ton of debt, I define an expensive wine as one over $15. It has been my experience that the ore expensive wines bring thunder to my palate.

QOTD #2: Never really watched Gilligan’s Island. Therefore, no preference.

  154. August 21, 2008

    pawncop

Very good show, sorry to be so late, have been away teaching.

QOTD#1 – At this point in my development I would drink more of the lesser costs to get a greater range of experiences.

    QOTD #2 – Mary Ann

  155. August 21, 2008

    Achilleas in Cyprus

Good fun show – really liked.

QOTD1: Prefer more good reasonably priced wines more often with some more expensive, better/special wines, every now and then.

    QOTD2: sorry .. non-USA – no relevance.

  156. August 21, 2008

    Vinophile

We await you at Heinz Field! GO STEELERS!!

Perish that thought 25 years ago! Cleveland native and former avid Browns fan here. It’s SO much more fun living in Steelers Country—we always have hope!

But Cleveland’s still home in my heart, and I’m there all the time. LOVE Ferrante Winery (especially the restaurant). I am not a fan of dessert wines, but I guess I’ll have to pick up a bottle next time I’m there to experience a THUNDER ice wine!

A good friend of ours is a Cleveland Wine School “grad.” I’ll have to send him this episode. Nice job, Marianne!

Hubby and I are stuck on uncovering GOOD, inexpensive wines on a rgular basis…but both of us would love to try more expensive wines of high repute more often. Perhaps we’ll get to do that on the Thunder Cruise!

  157. August 25, 2008

    Andrew D

    Cheers guys

    QOTD1 – if I had to choose A, but A+B=C is a good option
    QOTD2 – ?

    Andrew

  158. August 27, 2008

    JayZee

AWESOME! BTW, I gave the Saint Joseph Pinot Noir an 87 a couple of years ago but it obviously was a different vintage. Marianne, I love you, Girl!

QOTD1: I’d rather drink more good wine and less not-so-good wine. According to my wife, this means I’d rather have fewer expensive (good) bottles than more cheap (not-so-good) bottles. Of course, that is a gross generalization.

    QOTD2: Mary Ann!!!

  159. August 27, 2008

    M

QOTD: I guess it’s cheating to drink less expensive wine frequently while I’m waiting for the special opportunities to have the more expensive wine less frequently. I can do it all. As long as I can have wine.

  160. August 31, 2008

    JudeMurphy

    More money better wine!
Surely that must be the sentiment of anyone who drinks wine for more than just the alcohol!

  161. August 31, 2008

    Ryan W

I could care less if it was expensive or cheap, I just want good wine.

    Word.

  162. September 1, 2008

    Karl Laczko

Good show, and your prediction was spot on, Jets beat Browns!

QOTD – Fewer bottles, higher price/quality.

    QOTD2 – ??

  163. September 16, 2008

    yowens

Gary I’m into the stadium tour but I think it would have been OK if you skipped Cleveland. BTW, nice game Brownies. How many losses in a row to Steel Town? QOTD: 1-better wine less often 2- mary ann rocked it. Huge childhood crush.

  164. January 19, 2009

    Dessert Wine Nerd

hahahahahahaha “Paris Hilton’s disgusting!!” Agreed, my man, agreed. Glad to see another Ohio wine bring it on the ice wine. It seems to me that for now their wines lie in whites/ice wines. Obviously there may be great reds out there but we’ll see in the future. Great guest, even if she is a Browns fan ( boo! ) QOTD1: Id rather drink nicer wines less often. I dont think I could give up drinking the nice German reislings or top quality dessert wines. QOTD2: Mary Ann. She had heart. Gigner was all about herself…. boring.

  165. February 5, 2009

    Little Jonny

Don’t know how I missed this one (being a browns fan and at the Learned owl), but nice show.

    QTOD: High volume, low price

QOTD2: Is this really a debate? Ginger

  166. November 18, 2009

    richardvinifera

QOTD: Less often, more expensive. This is assuming higher quality, although price may not dictate quality, I would pay for a bottle that had some age on it, which you will always pay for.
