QOTD: Really need to expand my palate on Italian wines. Don’t drink them that often. Good show.

QOTD: 2003 Sette Ponti Crognolo. But I also love the Mezzomondo Negroamaro from Puglia that I can no longer source. Dangit.

Piave Vechio is darn good. I agree.

Don’t really get the chance to drink Italian wines. Wish you would’ve talked a bit more about the cheese, I love me some cheese.

QOTD – My friends took me to a winery called Ferruci last December in Italy that was southeast of Bologna. They had very good Sangiovese based wines.

QOTD: Sadly, no new Italian wines. The few we have are not supposed to be ready to drink yet. I am sipping a mimosa with leftover Gosset to console me.

Agree that Sfurzat is very underrated/unknown. I have only had 1 (therefore relatively unknown to me) from Nino Negri (Valt Sfurzat 5 stelle) which was outstanding and definitely up there with the best amarones, brunellos and barolos. They won wine of the year in Gambero Rosso a couple years back. Saving my 1999 for a couple more years.

Beat Army?!!! I don’t think so. QOTD: With the hot summer weather here in AZ, I’ve been going through a lot of Prosecco, Maschio dei Cavalieri was one, good prices too, they’re just for fun fruity bubbles that go down great with just about anything.

My best new Italian? The 2004 Antinori Tignanello … wow!! Outstanding.

Might be tough to find something like the Sforzato here in PA. Know what I mean?

Thunder Cruise cabins are going quickly? Where does one sleep after they sell out: on the deck? Maybe in a lifeboat?

The Sforzato does sound fine. I enjoy Amarones and Ripassas. I’ve enjoyed the Zenato lately…good stuff.

Tonight I’m enjoying l’Échanson from the Cahors region. Very Bordeaux like with dark flavors and good fruit.

What a shame about the Jets loss to the REDSKINS!!!! Even if it doesn’t count, it was great.

QOTD: I recently had a dry white from Veneto. It was inexpensive, so I did not really have high expectations, but it was really good.

Gary, Thanks for returning to the old world. I am hooked, don’t know if I will every be back to the new world wine. Never say Never

Qotd: 2005 Vigna del Melograno from Santa Lucia in the Castel del Monte appellation of Puglia region. $13.99. Old world wine with very nice tannic grip, dark plum, black cherry, dried figs, leather and tobacco finish. By far the best Italian QPR I have every had. This is from 100% Uva di Troia grape. I would be shocked if you or many of the viewers have experienced this local southern Italian grape.

I have heard about this region but never tried anything from there, maybe its time.
