Funnily enough, Wine Spectator issued their “Tasting Highlights: California Petite Sirah” on their website yesterday. Their two top picks are ROSENBLUM Petite Sirah Napa Valley Pickett Road 2006 and ROSENBLUM Petite Sirah Contra Costa County Pato Vineyard 2006… 2006 must have been a good vintage for Rosenblum.

Nice show Gary. I always grab a Petite Sirah when I see one as the QPR is usually great.

QOTD: Enjoying two GV roco’s: the Prado Ayala 2006 Rioja and the 2006 Espelt. I went nuts over the 2005 Espelt (I still have one bottle tucked away that I can’t bear to pop), and was really leery of them doing the same thing again. They did. The 2006 brings the same serious under-$10 thunder as its predecessor. Prado’s bringing the same brand of value thunder. These are both “real” wines for 10 bucks. Can’t beat that on a Tuesday night.

That Rosenblum sounds great… The first Petite Sirah I had was the Concannon Limited Release that you suggested a few years ago. Good stuff!

QOTD: I am drinking the 2006 Yering Station Pinot Noir Rosé Extra Dry. It’s pretty good, actually! One of the better Rosé’s I’ve had. I wouldn’t agree with the 90 points by Josh Raynolds, but still… tasty.

QOTD: Lately I’ve been drinking some very good Picpoul de Pinet – only discovered it recently, but it is a nice change from a riesling or sauv blanc.

Last wine was a bottle of Phillips Hill Pinot Noir with my wife and friends in Cape May. Great setting, food and the wine brought it all together.

Very interested in trying the Rosenblum, haven’t ahd a Petite Sirah in a long time, so long not sure what it was!

QOTD: Most recent bottles — Beckmen Estate Grenache, Benton Lane Pinot Noir, Gary Farrell Sauvignon Blanc, a nice Aglianico, a cheap Chianti (bottles not handy, and names not memorable)

QOTD – Right now I am drinking Sauvignon Blanc, Brancott 2007 from New Zealand, Joesph Verdier 2004 Sancerre, and Chateau Souverain 2005 Alexander Valley California. this is an exercise I am following to determine the different styles of the grape. Man am I having fun, study hall was never this much fun!!!

I’ve been trying to focus on wines that I don’t usually drink. For me, those are Spanish reds and California Merlots and Sauvignon Blancs. I’ll soon be moving into Prosecco and Moscato d’Asti. I’m also mixing in the usual variety of Italian reds and Southern French roses because they keep me so happy.

I don’t have any wrist bands. Boo Hoo. Sniff Sniff.

QOTD: I’m always drinking something good. Almost everyday. In moderation. Expanding my palate.

QOTD: Waht am I drinking? Coffee, water, fruit juice and wine. Trying to drink a bit of Chinese wine at the moment – many avcerage, some resoable. Also trying a fair bit of stuff from New Zealad and Portugal.

QOTD – I am on a Spain binge. I have purchased probably 3 different Albarinos and the Emilio Moro from Ribera del Duero – absolutely magnificent.

I have found two different drinks (for me) in the last couple of weeks. One, a 2003 version of the Sauternes you recommended in a previous show (very good… I’ve ordered a case of the ’05), and a chocolate shake w/ Baileys and Kahlua that is THE new summer porch / baseball / early fall football drink for me. Outstanding. By the way, simply put, my Seahawks are going to CRUSH the lowly jets this year and Tatupu is going to knock Brett Fav-ra into final retirement. I’ve got two seats to this game with your name on it if you have the guts to show.

I have the 1st generation wristband… 🙂
Drinking more whites in this summer heat, just had DuMol Chardonnay, very enjoyable…

QOTD – Kayra terra 2005 Öküzgözü from Elaz??, in the East Anatolia Region of Turkey. It’s not that great, but it’s drinkable!

Really good show. Opened my eyes up to a varietal that seems like it would be just my speed. I really like zins but i think i miss the tannin structure that most of them lack. But let me say this.

QOTD: Neyers High Valley Vineyards ’05 Zinfandel – Really really solid stuff. Great nose, mouthfeel, and it lingers forever. A perfect example of what California Zinfandel can be. This wine is much more than just jammy alcohol, this is some serious stuff. TRY IT.

QOTD: Sad to say, coffee. Working 10 hr day with 2 hour commute does that to a person!

QOTD: I’m drinking what I brought back from my honeymoon in NZ – some Central Otago pinot noir and some Bordeaux blends from Waiheke Island.
