Question OTD: When I read a book, I can get into a headspace where I block everything else out. Totally. My wife can sitting next to me on the couch, ask a question and I won’t hear a word.

    Quote OTD: “I’m smelling insects”

I discovered sipping Tequila and Rum (separately) in grad school in Florida, where I lived ON the beach. Sat on an old wooden porch from the 1800s and sipped good tequila watching the sun go down over the intracoastal waterway.

QOTD: People don’t know that I am a political nut. They know I like politics, but not how much time I spend volunteering/writing/being active in politics.

QOTD: I like to skin kittens.
On a side note. I am surprised you picked 2 pretty common tequila’s to do for the show. Every time I go into a bar, there is a pretty deep shelf of different tequila’s. I would like to try them all. Yet somehow I end up ordering a bowl of Belevedere and then follow it with a couple glasses of vino.

Love the forays into different booze every once and a while. Tequilas often have a very complex nose, and good ones should be enjoyed like a decent cognac. How about a grappa show? I loves me some grappa!

I love tequila, but I never tried tequila neat, because I only know the kind of tequila which you get a f*** hangover with ^^
for the QOTD I would say that as I don’t party as much as my collegues they don’t really know what my life plans are

QOTD: I’m a teacher (well grad student that teaches undergrads) and so my students know next to nothing about me (a way to depersonalize me and respect me despite my young appearance). They have no idea that I am a swing dancer, that I’m bilingual (well for that matter till they take my class most of them don’t know what it means to be bilingual). They have no idea that I like to drink wine or that I have a food blog. As for my peers and my professors, we’re a small department so they know everything.

That was cool, and I don’t even like tequila.
QOTD: They don’t know that I play the guitar in my underwear every chance I get.

Gary, great show I love when you do something outside of wine. It shows that complexity can be found in all the spirits.

Totally agree on the Cabo, great Tequillla! And I also agree that Tequilla snobs (me) kind of find the patron too blended, too flat. No depth.

Here is one to try that is extremely good: Reposado Tequilla Corralejo. A finish like you wouldn’t believe, great flavors. Dont smell the cork though. Its disgusting. The tequilla smells fine, but the cork is nasty.

Once again, WINE is why I watch.

Great show guys. My favorite tequila without a doubt is Chamucos. I prefer Anejos but Chamucos, which is a Reposado, is ridiculously good.

QOTD: Since I recently started a new job I guess my co-workers don’t know a lot about me. They probably don’t quite know how much I’m into wine & music.

I LOVE tequila. ALWAYS my drink of choice. And you guys are completely right, Cabo IMO is the best around. It’s so good that I nurse bottles of it for years at a time, because I want it to last….

QOTD: Are you joking? They don’t know anything about my life online. Posting on sites, participating in these communities, meeting new people… No clue.

I think cheap alcohol is there to get people wasted and the good stuff is there for people to enjoy. You’ll find that 99.8% of the time people do shots of cheap tequila, as with cheap vodka, rum, whiskey etc… When you sit down and try to enjoy the cheap stuff you realize it’s cheap for a reason and there’s not much there to enjoy. I think this also applies to wine for the most part. Some people are afraid to explore new drinks because it may be too offensive to their palate, so they stick with muted cheap drinks. I find a lot of people aren’t adventurous enough to develop their palate and explore new drinks and end up missing out. What’s the point of getting trashed if you don’t enjoy what you’re drinking?

Those tequilas aren’t what Mexicans drink. Those are made for gringos. How about trying Don Julio, Herradura, and Cuervo extra anejos next!!!
