I have two – the Bixio Ripasso is a must if you love the vento; and if you love South France the 2005 pesquie la terrases (didnt like the 06 as much)

QOTD: 2006 Montalto Nero d’Avola/Cab blend (Sicily). C$11 in BC – probably US$6 in the US.

Good everyday wine with decent fruit and acidity, no oak and screwcap.

I am new to wine but had someone recommend a VERY inexpensive Cab red blend called Mallet Pointe that sold for $5.99 a bottle! It has a screw cap and I don’t mind having just a glass at night without worrying about wasting the rest of it. I enjoy it and wow… does that work in to a budget!

If anyone is in Washington state, look out for Sockeye merlot.. it’s only $10, maybe even $6.99 on sale and goes great with spicy Indian food and of course, salmon.

QOTD: I just drank the 2005 E. Guigal Cote du Rhone and was pleasantly surprised. Well worth the 13 bones it costs, and should be widely available.

Good to see David Wells in the proper uniform. (Blue Jays). Keep the baseball cards coming, and I’m also addicted to this show now.

Here is the secret wine of all time. It scored 89 points Wine and Spirits. It smells, tastes and finishes like the wine that it purports to be. And, it is actually quite good. Oh, AND, it’s ONLY SIX BUCKS!!!

Santa Rita 120 2006 Cab, from Chile.

Get it while you can, and laugh at your friends who pay twelve and fifteen for garbage like Rodney Strong and others.

    Cheers, Gary!

When you were opening up the packs a couple of days ago I figured that you would open up a Steve Frey (pronounced fry), he is my dad’s cousin. He had a long career as a relief pitcher, and now runs a baseball camp down in Florida. Bit of useless trivia and the first time Steve’s name has been in the media for probaly 13 years. Kudos!

QOTD: 2006 Philippe et Pascale Nusswitz Orenia Blanc — a delicious Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne blend from France.

QOTD: Château Du Buisson Bordeaux 2006. At 7 bones, is a very solid wine. Great Tuesday dinner wine, in my opinion. Love the shift in the show, 13$ and under. It’s a good challenge, and a fun one at that.

Hey Mott and Gary, where’s my free schwag for writing a comment on that one episode? You know when Gary picked a show at random, and if you wrote a comment you get a schwag package. I was one of those people and I’m still waiting?
QOTD:I’ve been drinking whiskey and beer exclusively.

    Robert Howells

Farnese Sangiovese from Italy $7.99 Canadian so probably $3.00 in USA.

QOTD: When I’m broke, I always like the Big Red Monster. It’s about 10 Bones.

I almost bought Pillar Box last night b/c I was going over to my brother’s house to watch the debate (I don’t have TV), and his dog’s name is Pilar so I thought it would be cool, then I thought, he’s loaded, I’ll just drink his wine.

I got my brother to watch the show for the first time last night. He loved it!!! He picked out a Napa show and was able to name the 3 of the 4 wines that were on the table even though you couldn’t see the labels very clearly. He’s off to Napa tomorrow!

I was in love with Tommy Herr when I was a kid. He was part of the ‘82 World Series Champion Cardinals!!! #28 and curly dark blond hair!!! Almost as hot as Gary.

I think Tommy Herr only hit one home run in 42,457 at bats.

QOTD: best under $13 wine recently is the 2006 Pacific Rim Gewurztraminer
unlike most low cost gewurz, it has great acidity and is just off-dry. Aromatics and flavors are classic litchi.
