    Great episode, way to keep revisiting YT, WB, just to stay accurate on the products. For the same cash – there are tons of options really, but, to each their own. I am really enjoying lots of great wines (not whites – yet) in the $7 – $15 range that really impress me, and I enjoy.

    QOTD: Thai food this weekend, Pad Thai, Lemongrass Soup, Jungle Curry, Spring Rolls, Hot Ginger Tea – ROCKED!!!

    Headed to a Russian Festival this week too, Peroghis, Kielbasi with Kapusta, Potato Pancakes. All good stuff.

    QOTD: the Santa Barbara County Vintner’s Assoc tasting at Rancho Sisquoc means…. Jocko’s in Nipomo for amazing steak, B&E Vinyards Red, TAZ Vineyards Pinot Noir Fiddlestix and a little TAZ Pinot Gris. Then Sunday on the way home, Hitching Post in Bueltton for their artichoke app, Flat Iron steak, seasonal veggies on the grill and of course Hitching Post Pinot Santa Rita Hills. no more meat for a month LOL

    A good episode, appreciate your comments of the “typical” wines available at an entry level for novice wine drinkers.

    Personal story – celebrated my birthday last Wednesday with daughter, son in law and granddaughter at a nice Brazilian steak house (Fogo De Choa) and with dessert (really good Key Lime Pie) had the opportunity to try Taylor’ Tawny 20 year Port. OMG, I am in love. First time for port, will NOT be the last.

    QOTD – Working in the ER so not as heathly as I need to. Soups and turkey sausage, with jalapeno pepper. Sort of a busy weekend with a little bit of badness and sickness with kids.

    The (Canadian Thanksgiving) weekend is now past, but our menu went something like:
    -take-out Indian food with some friends on Friday (beer: Old Speckled Hen)
    -crackers, cheese, cured sausage and liverwurst for lunch Saturday
    -Saturday family dinner #1: lamb spiedini as an appetizer, roast turkey, assorted roast squash, rice and sauteed leeks, sauteed rapini and garlic, green beans, salad, with carrot cake for dessert. (wines: Tatone Multipulciano D’Abruzzo, Wayne Gretzky Red Meritage, SoGrape Vila Regia Douro Reserva, and a Sauv. Blanc)
    -Sunday family dinner #2: oven roast crispy duck, garlic sauteed shrimp, pan fried scallops, rice and sauteed leeks, sauteed spinach and mushrooms, assorted pies for dessert. (wine: Fielding Estate Gewurztraminer)
    -Monday brunch at a friend’s house following the Oktoberfest parade [http://www.oktoberfest.ca/] (juice: fresh, hand squeezed grape juice)

    An awesome weekend, that was fairly relaxing (considering the I was cooking 2 full thanksgiving dinners)

    @OTD: My favorite meal this weekend was kind of a Frankenstein monster. It was some black bean feijoada with some sriracha sauce (little south american/asian fusion action) over top jasmine rice. Verrrrrry good if you like spicy food.

    QOTD: Locally-grown, pastured goat ribs with a spice rub (thyme, cumin, coriander, paprika, salt) on the grill. Great flavor, but requires eating like a cro mag.

    Thanks for the Birthday shout out!! For better or worse, I was driving this weekend out to Sonoma CA, and my car started acting up in the middle of Wyoming on my birthday. Luckily a miner named Larry helped me out and drove me to the nearest mechanic open on Sunday (who couldn’t do anything…) and I was stranded at big truck stop called Little America. But I took him out to dinner for his help, and had a lousy steak but a decent local beer, Schiller’s 90 (the wine list at the hotel was less than impressive). The people in Wyoming were wonderful, but the food was terrible. Shame.

    I and 14 fellas just las friday, had a wild boar dinner in my cabin(in veneto mountains there is an awful number of wild boars, and the regional sport is to hunt them)we drank amarone of valpolicella. perfect chemical marriage! Oh what a joy!!!!!!!! BIG shout out for Gary and Mott

    QOTD: I had the lamb porterhouse at my restaurant last night, with truffled whipped kaboocha squash, braised Brussels sprouts with pancetta in a chanterelles sauce. Ridiculous.
