I enjoyed this show and the guest..but I must jump in and add that searing a steak has nothing to do with keeping in juices. Along with the info. from the last comment, this guy seems to like to bs.

Gary, first of all I admire your work. Now let me share my thoughts on this episode...

“Nebbiolo pimp as he likes to go by”… Gary you deserve a vafanculo for that…

Your guest is an ass, a newbie who pretends to be an expert on Barolo… On Giacosa: this wine comes from the vineyards of "Castiglione DI Falletto"… hahahahaha Yeah right, a Barolo normale and he knows where the grapes are coming from… Just because it was botled by the Azienda Agricola Falletto? LOL LOL Which happens to be located in Neive (Barbaresco zone)… hahaha
The only Giacosa vyneard in Castiglione Faletto (please, not Castiglione DI Falletto) is “Roche di Castiglione” which Giacosa refers to as “Le Roche” in his prestigious "Le Rocche Barolo". The cru Falletto by the way is in Serralunga D'Alba. That crap about half and right bank just shows how newbie on Barolo he is… And how little he drunk... People should stop reading books and drink more, exactly what you do. Please don’t bring these fools to your show - you just lose credibility with that. I know that most of your public knows very little about Italian wines but it’s just too much to listen to idiots like that.
Have you drunk many Giacosa before? Yahhh Not many… well I have many but they are difficult to find… hahaha what a testa di cazzo…
By the way, can’t you fucking pronounce GIACOSA corrently for Christ’s sake????
Keep up the good work man.

Looks like Gary might have some competition from Joe there. Better watch out if he decides to do his own blog ;). Great show as always. Love the feeling of the live shows once again. QOTD: Its an experience. By yourself, friends, loved ones, in your home, a picnic, or a restaurant. Its a special moment to celebrate, or just a Tuesday night. Its passion, love, and shock and awe. So many reasons to love and enjoy wine. Much more than just the smell and taste.

QOTD: The connection to culture, people, food, places, and history draws you in... but the taste is just as captivating. Awesome episode, nice guest!

Sweet show, loved all the tidbits of knowledge!

Oh, and the part about the left and right banks of Bordeaux being like the Bloods and the Crypts is so true! :o) You gotta watch out!

QOTD: I've always liked wine- it's my alcoholic beverage of choice. Little by little I've fallen in love with it and have realized that this rabbit hole goes quite a long way...

Wonderful show, probably the best of all I've seen so far...Joe knows a lot about wine, that's for sure! If he ever wants to visit his favourite wine region Ribera del Duero, he can stop at our place just north of Madrid (on the way to Ribera del Duero) for a rest, and a good glass of wine! (or Belgian beer, just as nice, with the right company)
I've liked a lot as well Gary's comment about the food...Ribera del Duero is indeed a great place to enjoy cordero (lamb) - cochinillo (milk pig) - cabrito (little goat), all prepared in a real wood fired oven (cf. old pizza ovens)...
QOTD : for me wine, like good bear, is the nectar to celebrate good company!
